Because often I'm interested in information that many people are not.
As an example, I'm responsible for informing our National Office on all of the schools that will never reactivat their Alpha Phi Omega chapter because the school has closed or merged with another school that also has a chapter. I've also found links for those closed schools to put on our national web page to either alumni associations of the closed schools, pages describing the history of the school that merged (such as California College of Medicine merging with U of California Irvine and becoming their medical school). I've only got two closed schools left. If you find any web listings for Lea College in Albert Lea, MN or Durham College (note not the same as Durham Technical College) in Durham, NC. Let me know.

Well the example you provided relates to YOUR organization. That's a big difference. Unless you have a membership number with Zeta Phi Beta or Phi Beta Sigma you shouldn't be concerned with the business of our organizations. Gracias and have great day!

I honestly think he was just curious about it - its really not as serious as you are making it out to be. Its not like he wants to know the secret handshake/clasp or anything like that.
Umm Im in Cary, NC which isnt too far from Durham and friend goes to NCCU - so let me know if you need to find something.

Well I explained the situation more than once and he keeps bringing it up. Please believe there is no stress on my end.

I personally could care less about any other organizations. I respect them all, but outside of Masonry and Alpha Phi Omega...I could give a hoot about what something stands for in another organization. Umm, next topic!

TOO LATE...
By responding to this you've proven just that. YOU DO CARE.
Have a nice day.
oh yeah, Phi Beta Sigma does not recognize a Zeta Phi Beta Sigma.
but it's something the undergrads say or do when they both host a party or a joint venture. It's like a catchy slogan.

Given my choice between finding out what happened to Durham College and finding out if your friend has asked for info on restarting Tau Delta @NCCU, I'll take the second.

MHO a little long
Ok I am a Howard Graduate and a Howard Greek (NPHC).
I wanted to respond to this forum because I've read the articles starting with the Hilltopic that begins, "Why do the Delta's always win the stepshow?..." (unfortunately, I can't recall the true title of the topic but needless to say it caught my attention.)
I believe this was the spark in this fire.
disclaimer
I consider myself a person who wants to know the whole story and I take it upon myself to educate the ignorant. Therefore, whenever someone wants to know about APO or GSS (or any other org) I let them know whatever I have learned (visiting your websites, talking to members, etc.) I try not to pass on wrong information and I strongly believe in greek unity, I mean, we're all fighting the same fight.
However, I did want to comment on one part of the article Ms. Miller wrote...
Realize also, that non Pan-Hellenic organizations are not "fronting like [they] are Pan-Hell." It's clear that they're not. Rather, they are defining their own images, setting their own traditions and building their own legacies. The benefits of being in a non-NPHC organization do extend beyond Howard, just as much as they do if one is a member of the NPHC. Every Greek organization on this campus is a part of a national (or even international) body with tens or hundreds of thousands of members that impact the world outside of Howard.
I don't believe it is very appearent that these historically Caucasian orgs are not "frontin" when they have calls, lines etc. As far as my research has led me to believe white orgs don't do that.
However, I do understand that we took the model of a sorority/fraternity that was put forth and tweaked it to suit us. So it can also be said that you did the same when on a black campus (do you do the same on the PWIs?) And I understand that there's only so much individuality in the world, therefore things are bound to repeat. But understand when things are too similar we tend to get uncomfortable.
Sorry babbling, anyway, please feel free to respond any way you like.

I had the chance to read your organization's mission statement and it clearly states,
* Encourage a closer and mutually beneficial working relationship with fellow Greek-letter organizations, other community service organizations, business and government.
Do you honestly think that you are upholding your organization's mission by disregarding other organizations? Think about it!
