I read the first paragraph and my response was:
That is just sick and wrong! Something has to be done to prevent this from happening again

As usual. There were 989 women that went through recruitment. The good news is that very few women withdrew throughout the week. The HORRIBLE news is that MANY (I won't get into numbers, but trust me many) women attended preference parties (or party) and did not receive a bid. This could have been prevented by:
Chapters making larger cuts toward the end and not holding on to girls that they had no intention of pledging... just for the sake of numbers.
Having another sorority for these women!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know we've discussed some problems with adding another chapter at LSU, but tell that to the women who attended THREE preference parties and did not receive a single bid. These women maximized their options the entire week & did not single intention preference.
Quota was 80. I'm pretty sure all made quota, it would seem since so many women were released.
I was a Gamma Chi (Rho Chi at most schools). And as you can see, I am a little ticked. I enjoyed the experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world. But, I was a little short for words when a PM asked me "Why did this happen?"

Ummm. . . so this may be an incredibly naive and simplistic solution, but if all of the chapters made quota and there are a ton of unmatched girls, why don't they just go back and bump up quota. Its unorthodox, but think about it: if you have ten sororities on campus and everyone takes quota of 80, that's 800 girls. Lets say that out of the 989 girls that went through rush, only 900 signed pref cards, so you raise quota to 90 and try to match those last 100 women. A few of them still might not get bids, but 10 girls going bidless is better than 100.

BrownEyedGirl, PKTKKG and I were at the Horseshoe, too--wish we had known! Wasn't it a fabulous day?! The Kappa new members are awesome, and we're so proud of them.
Did you meet any of the Gamma Phi representatives at any of the parties? I guess they'll start colonizing in a few weeks. I think PKTKKG just about gave one of them a heart attack when she told her how much the houses cost!

Yes we are ready to start colonizing at USC (the other USC! ) -- I helped the alum chapter get organized for this much awaited event. That is great news about every chapter taking quota! Our "powers-that-be" were already aware of the costs for building a house there -- -- but they know that is the price of doing business there, so to speak! We are very excited!

ZTA received 51 fabulous new members - one of the best pledge classes I've ever seen! I was at Bid Day on the Horseshoe with all of the sororities, and I saw LOTS of smiling faces.
Part of this Panhellenic success may be due to the fact that this year USC used (from what I've been told) a new system that required the sororities with higher return rates to cut more girls early on. The result was fewer women at their pref parties, but less disappointed PNM's - the sororities got the girls they really wanted, and the PNM's had a realistic perspective and a chance to get to know other chapters. Hope that all makes sense.
Anyway, way to go USC! I'll be up at Clemson tomorrow helping with Pref and then I'll fill y'all in on their Bid Day (even if it is ACC!) on Wednesday.

What WONDERFUL news!!!! Congratulations to the Clemson Panhel, who have it all together!!!

How many and which sorority houses are constructed and occupied on the Horseshoe now? Is there a sequence for what GLO is next?
It has been awhile since I checked things out -- and then it was just the Zeta house that was there -- I was in awe! Talk about bling bling!! Can't imagine what the Kappa house looks like....

Who knows.. I will be in Starville on Wednesday.. I will verify my info again.. but, if it was 59.. then no one made quota... I do not believe any chapter took more than 55?
I heard that one missed quota during matching.. but snapped..
And never heard Zeta's numbers..

Gorgeous Kappa house! Makes me wish that I'd had a house to live in. Congrats to my sisters and all the chapters at USC!
