To my knowledge, Delta Zeta would have been near the other sorority houses which made some type of circle I believe. I have seen an old news reel (I think that's what it's called) that showed DZ as a white house with white columns. It also showed the old Phi Mu house. I believe they made some type of circle. I believe also, that DG, DDD, and KD are in their original houses (with renovations/additions of course) or at least on their original land. So I would gather that DZ would have been near them. I do not believe that Alpha Xi Delta ever owned a house. My best friend's mother was an AXiD at Ole Miss and from what she told me, they rented Barnard Observatory (near the current Student Union) for meetings.

I just purchased a pictorial history book of Ole Miss so I'll check in it tonight to see if there is a pic of DZ and if so I'll scan it.

At Lawrence Tech, Phi Kappa Upsilon is the oldest fraternity here.
The founder of our university founded them in 1932 (or maybe they were founded in '33, a year after the school opened) so they get grandfathered into random things. For instance, they're the only org with a house. They're a local fraternity. They expanded with 4 chapters but the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma chapters are no longer existent (even though Alpha and Delta were both here at LTU).

I think the oldest sorority here is Delta Tau Sigma, another local org.

I know a lot of fraternities and sororities have come and gone at this school, though. Lots of locals.

Tau Kappa Epsilon - Beta chapter is the oldest (and best) Fraternity on Millikin's campus celebrating 100 years just a few days ago.

Actually, there are at least two that were founded before Beta at Ole Miss. Beta’s Beta Beta chapter was founded in 1879. Phi Kappa Psi and Sigma Chi (two that come to mind) were founded in 1857 I'm pretty sure. If you meant continuously open that wouldn't work either because Beta was off-campus for a while, and just about all fraternities left in the 1920s because fraternities and sororities were banned for a few years by the State Legislature.

Johns Hopkins University

Johns Hopkins was founded in 1876. Beta Theta Pi, Alpha Chi chapter, was founded in 1877. They're the oldest, but Phi Kappa Psi was close behind in 1879. I don't think either has ever closed/recolonized.

JHU didn't start admitting women until 1970, and in 1982 both Phi Mu and Alpha Phi colonized, making them the oldest sororities on campus. I believe Alpha Phi was recolonized at least once though, so I would say Phi Mu is the oldest continuously running sorority.

If I remember correctly a local was colonized by Kappa Sigma and that colony helped start a local sorority that later became Chi Omega, which I think is funny because a Kappa Sigma was one of the founders of Chi Omega.

However we have a local fraternity (Sigma Kappa Nu) that was around first. They were originally recognized by campus until about 8 years ago when IFC passed regulations saying you must have a national to be recognized.

The oldest fraternity of record at University of Mississippi was called WWW Rainbow, founded in 1849, DKE followed in 1850. All chapters closed during the Civil War. The Rainbow group revived in 1867 and the entire national was absorbed by Delta Tau Delta in 1866 (thus, the title of the Delt magazine). Beta was a relative latecomer in 1879.
