I am at Dyess and I guess this gym in about a year old and is very nice. Has a wall of 14 TV's to watch while working out and three different weight rooms. And an indoor track above the basketball courts to run during yucky weather. IE Wind

Back when I had benfeits, I'd go work out at Lackland. Back then (about ten years ago) they had two gyms, one was a piece of shit (called war eagle or something & wasnt air conditioned) and the other was pretty nice.
I now belong to a local gym that is virtually empty after 6PM. Since I'll be taking some grad classes this spring, I can use the three year old fitness center for free, and cancel my membership. But I am caught in a conundrum; the campus gym is nicer and free, but its super crowded (3 years old and undergoing construction to double its size this spring) and you have a lot of people who either dont know what they are doing, or are there ONLY to socialize. My regular gym membership is up in March, so I'll have a few months to weigh the pros and cons of each. I sure would like to save the $38 a month tho....

The thought of only paying $38 a month seems so nice...

In Oxford, MS we only have one local gym, Orion Fitness. I am a member and I love it! They have spin classes which I just love! I use to use Ole Miss' gym but with all of the students it was hard to get on a machine. Orion is less crowded and has lots of great classes. My apartment complex also has a gym which is nice and it is open 24 hours a day with a special access card.

Its only worth $38 a month. Hardly any classes, no individual TV's in the cardio area, no towels, etc. Think of a nice gym in a small town, or a high end gym about 10 years ago.
Cost of living here is insanely low. You can get a descent (read, mcmansion), brand new house way out in the burbs, 4000sq feet, best school district in the city with entry level finishes for about 150K.
The other side of the coin is that every one here looks like a 300lb oompa loompa and drives 45 on the freeway. So it all balances itself out.

I would stick with the local gym. My school has a nice new modern FREE gym but, since it's right in the middle of all of the dorms it's always crowded at all times of the day.

That's how much my gym was during college; of course, all it was worth was $38. The difference in going to a better gym (with a bit higher of a price) was well worth it.
Also, with my old job, I could have gotten a membership to your gym for around $40.

Fitness World for $45.00 a month. Next year, I drop down to $19.00/month.
My location has a swimming pool, co-ed jacuzzi, co-ed steam room, ladies sauna, ladies steam, tanning, a spa/salong, tons of free weights, machines, spinning, yoga, Pilates (including reformers), Tae-Box, Boxercise, and all kinds of aerobics classes.
The amenities are phenomenal and the ladies' locker room is large enough to ballroom dance in.
There are 20 locations to choose from and not all have as plentiful amenities. But mine has the sweet amenities.

They're bringing a 24-hour BSC to the downtown area. It isn't my home gym, but after a late night working I may have to check it out.

Is that the new Copley one? or the South End one? My trainer was telling me that he hopes that opening up both of those might make FitCorp a little less crowded, especially during the January rush.

Copley - I heard the Watertown one is really nice, but that's a hike. I'll probably just stick with my current location.
