Really I think if you asked anyone at my school they wouldnt peg me as the "Sorority" type. (I wasnt very girly in HS, not that all sorority members are "girly" I would just suffice to say that i wasnt the type)
Man, how college can change things.
Though from talking and catching up with people, none of my close friends went greek though they dont seem to be suprised that I did (I was always the outgoing type but I never thought a sorority was me and I made that vocal, I guess they saw through that)
Of the "popular" crowd from my school, I only know of one Kappa Delta. Everyone else is a GDI which suprised me.

One of my friends from grade school through present (more years than I can figure out now) went Sigma Kappa at the U of Mich. Another friend of mine went to Albion College and went through recruitment but wasn't picked up (she had a pretty wild first semester freshman and got a very bad rep at a very small school). The third close friend went ao a school that was hazing big time back then so she didn't go to recruitment, but would have liked to if she'd been somewhere else.

Not a lot of people from my high school went to college; even fewer joined sororities or fraternities. One girl (who was a year older than me) became a Kappa Kappa Gamma at a small school in Idaho, and my across-the-road neighbor (who was three years older than me) was a FIJI at UW.

Here's what my friends from HS did, this is only from my class not all my friends from the 4 years.....
6-Sigma Chi/ Univ of Florida (there were 9 of us in our crew)
12-ADPi/ Univ of Florida
3-XO/ Univ of Florida
You can see why my friends from HS that went to UF were mad at me for not rushing SigmaChi and hence the ill feelings I have for them.

Out of my "core" group of friends:
1 Pi Kappa Phi (Texas A&M)
1 ZTA (UTEP)
2 Alpha Kappa Psi (UT, UT-San Antonio)
Other people that I was friends/acquiantances with (not necessarily just from HS):
2 local--Sigma Psi Eta (UTEP)
1 DG (Texas Tech)
1 Pi Phi (that i mentioned above--Texas Tech)
1 Kappa Sigma (NMSU)
1 Delta Chi (ASU, i think)
1 Phi Beta Kappa (UT)
1 SAE (Denver University)
1 Pike (UT)
1 Sigma Chi (Oklahoma State)
3 Alpha Xi Delta (UTEP, NMSU)
I think there are others, but I can't remember at the moment

Out of my core group of friends in High School, I was the one who was least expected to go greek, but I go to a school that only has locals. Otherwise:
1 Chi-O
1 Tri-Delt
2 SAE's
1 Pi Phi
1 ADPi
I think that's it, but I also went to a science and engineering program in high school, so it's not something that you'd expect to produce greek intensive groups of people.

Only about half my graduating class went to a 4-year college and of those, I was one of the few who became Greek. Most of the guys from my hometown are AGRs, though a few joined Delta Sig. There were two girls a year older who joined Kappa Delta, quite a few who were younger who joined AGD and one Gamma Phi.
