Red face

I'm soooooooo sorry!! Thank you for the PMer letting me know I was confused with another group. The word embarrassed doesn't even begin to cover it.

We didn't have an ADP at our school, so I was just going on what I had heard about them, but I seem to be old and forgetful and mixed them up. Please, please forgive me.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT ADPI IS:
1) That they are the oldest,
2) That they have such a large alumnae membership,
3) That they were so organized at such an early stage, with provinces and having a national inspector
4) That they had a secret magazine
5) That they have great attention to detail!! ;-)

Thank you for your kind words, Diamond Delta!! Actually, you were correct to some extent. There wasn't an ADPi at my school, but there was one at a nearby school and they dressed in all red for rush, so I thought they were the ones with red everything.

In the way of karma, I'm now sure there is someone out there who thinks Kappa's colors are black because we dressed in all black for our prefs.

No problem Kappa2. I deleted it b/c I saw that you and I had posted almost at the same time and you'd already explained it so, I felt kinda silly speculating, so I deleted it.

Alpha Chi Omega: I like that they were founded by music majors.
Alpha Delta Pi: I have really good friends who are ADPi's, though I feel SO sorry for them having lost their charter this past semester at my school... now my school is down to 6 sororities ;_; What I really like about ADPi is 1) diamonds are awesome and 2) my boyfriend was born in the same place that the sorority was founded
Alpha Epsilon Phi: I love lily of the valley's, which is their flower. We have some growing at my dad's house back home...
Alpha Gamma Delta: I think the squirrel is a very unique mascot.
Alpha Omicron Pi: I like that they can type AOII without having to use the symbol font if they want.
Alpha Phi: Again, I love lily of the valley's, and this sorority also uses it as one of their flowers, the forget me nots are pretty nice too.
Alpha Sigma Alpha: I like how they have four exemplars.
Alpha Sigma Tau: I like how while they have the anchor, chapters are allowed to adopt local mascots as well.
Alpha Xi Delta: I like how they have the quill for their member badge.
Chi Omega: We have Chi O's on my campus, and I like that we both have Owl's as mascots. I also think it is awesome that they support the Make a Wish foundation as I used to work with kids who had gotten to go on that program.
Delta Delta Delta: We also had Tri-Delt's here, this is going to sound really geeky, but I love their new member pin because everytime I look at it I think of the tri-force (my room mate is addicted to Zelda)
Delta Gamma: I like how their philanthropy helps with the blind.
Delta Phi Epsilon: I like their mascot of the unicorn, as well as the fact that they have iris's, since we often use iris's in my sorority.
Gamma Phi Beta: These girls have a really strong chapter here on my campus, and I like that they were founded in Syracuse and have the lovely crescent moon symbol.
Kappa Alpha Theta: I like their kite shaped badge, that and 2 of their colors are phi mu alpha colors (the black and the gold that is)
Kappa Delta: Another strong chapter on my campus, I like that they are a big supporter of Girl Scouts, although I was never in Girl Scouts myself.
Kappa Kappa Gamma: Of course I love these girls, I'm one of them! Blue was already my favorite color before joining, so that worked our really well for me I have to say! I also love our key... and my boyfriend loves to get me sapphire since he knows it's my sorority's stone...
Phi Mu: Whenever I hear "Phi Mu" I always think of "Phi Mu Alpha" because we abreviate referencing "Phi Mu Alpha's" on this campus as "Phi Mu's" since we have no Phi Mu sorority here... but on a more serious note, they, like ADPi were also founded at the same place my boyfriend was born, and I think the Quatrefoil is a very unique symbol.
Phi Sigma Sigma: We share the same sorority stone, you've got to love that sapphire.
Pi Beta Phi: We have these girls on our campus, and I really like their arrow. Yay monmouth duo!
Sigma Delta Tau: I like their badge.
Sigma Kappa: I love their dove and heart as symbols, and the violet is a great flower.
Sigma Sigma Sigma: I think it's really neat that they have a doll collection to remember each chapter installation by.
Theta Phi Alpha: I like how their new member pin has the compass in the middle.
Zeta Tau Alpha: They have strawberries as part of their symbols, and that is great, I don't think I've seen any other sororities with a food as a symbol. That and strawberries are yummy.

As a PNM I definitely appreciate this thread; it encouraged me to research all sororities (not just those on my campus) and definitely made me want to be a part of greek life.

Alpha Chi Omega: On the DePauw campus tour I ws able to tour their house. I just think it's pretty awesome that I was able to see the Alpha Chapter of a sorority and how much the girls love their history. I remember our hostess saying how everyone has to learn about their chapter and how cool she thought it was.

Alpha Delta Pi: The first woman to get me interested in sororities was an ADPi. She had nothing but wonderful things to say about her sisters.

Alpha Epsilon Phi: I like the Pearl Program for new members...it sounds so unique.

Alpha Gamma Delta: My Alpha Gam friend has this in her AIM profile and I've always loved it: The crowds admire her, little girls idolize her, classmates respect her, and men love her. She's loyal, sincere, truthful and kind, a follower and a leader. She's a scholar and a party girl, a heartbreaker and a true love, a class clown, a fraternity sweetheart and a student body president; she's a lady, but most of all, she's an Alpha Gam.

Alpha Omicron Pi: I have a Panda Collection so needless to say, I love their mascot!

Alpha Phi: Was the first women's fraternity in America to build and occupy its own chapter house. So without them, we might not have all of those gorgeous sorority houses.

Alpha Sigma Alpha: I like how there's an opening meaning about their letters: Aspire Seek Attain.

Alpha Sigma Tau: The history of how they decided to be official Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority is really interesting.

Alpha Xi Delta: An AXiD wrote the Panhellenic Creed, that's so awesome.

Chi Omega: It just continues to flourish, which is amazing. I really like the look of their website too.

Delta Delta Delta: I've always associated classy women with Tri-Delts since all of the one I've met have definitely upheld the highest standards of womanhood.

Delta Gamma: Anchorsplash just sounds so cool. I'm definitely jealous that we don't have a DG chapter on my campus.

Delta Phi Epsilon: I love how there is an opening meaning to the greek letters: Dedication, Pride, Excellence.

Delta Zeta: I love how their website has "Greek World" with people from various sororities and fraternities.

Gamma Phi Beta: I love how original its colors are. (I was reading my school's history the other day and we lost Gamma Phi back in the '80s and I really, really want them to come back after reading all about them!)

Kappa Alpha Theta: CASA is an awesome philanthropy and I've been told about a few CASA chapters that would not be in existance without the help of Thetas.

Kappa Delta: I love how they support the girl scouts (especially since APO is tied to scouting as well).

Kappa Kappa Gamma: The fleur-de-lis is so elegant and it definitely is a good representation of how classy Kappas are. Kappa probably has the least number of inactive chapters too--how do you do it?

Phi Mu: My friend is a Phi Mu and when I went to visit her at school her door was covered with notes from her sisters and she had lions everywhere. It was amazing to see how awesome her sisters were in welcoming her to the sorority.

Phi Sigma Sigma: Their official stone (sapphire) is my birthstone!

Pi Beta Phi: The fact that Pi Phi is the sole contributor of Arrowmont is pretty cool. What a great philanthropy to have.

Sigma Delta Tau: Congratulations on building a national headquarters!

Sigma Kappa: The dove and heart are such timeless symbols.

Sigma Sigma Sigma: I was at a conference this summer and stayed on the Tri-Sigma floor of the dorm. There were such sweet notes written on the wall and it was so nice.

Theta Phi Alpha: The history is pretty awesome. It's sad though how the number of active chapters are dwindling.

Zeta Tau Alpha: The first girl I knew to go through recruitement and join a sorority (not one who was already a sister) went ZTA and her love for her sisters definitely made me appreciate that bond and want something similar for myself. Plus, now everytime I see a Hallmark Card I'm reminded the sorority.

There's no secret to the turtle. He/she/it isn't an "official" mascot, but all our chapters have adopted it. There are all kinds of stories about it. My favorite one is that the turtle can't hear, and our philanthropy is Speech and Hearing Impaired. The truth, though, from what I can gather, is that we adopted the turtle as a mascot in honor of an alumnae who loved turtles. (Her name escapes me right now!) If I'm wrong about this, though, someone correct me. Also, I have no idea if turtles are really deaf.

Phi Sigma Sigma The Sphinx is very interesting and I like how they have an official hymn.

Sigma Delta Tau The history of Brother Nat, and their badge.
Sigma Kappa Their work with Alzheimer's and the dove is a beautiful symbol.
Sigma Sigma Sigma The sailboat and it's "ever forward" meaning.

Not secret at all. The turtle is not the official mascot of DZ (we have no official mascot), and several of our chapters have other mascots b/c other locals on their campuses already used turtles when DZ first started using them.

The turtle was recognized in the 70's as an "unofficial" mascot to honor one of our Past National Presidents, who was an avid collector of everything turtle related, but it has never been officially adopted, and it is not mentioned on our national web-site along w/the other identifying facts (like emblem, jewel, colors, etc.). Many older DZs do not associate the turtle with DZ at all. So that's basically it! Mystery solved!

Wait is the women you're talking about a parliamentarian? I remember at convention we had an alum from another sorority who was a professional parlimentarian at our business sessions who was obsessed with turtles. I wonder if its the same person.

I think I'll give this a try...

Alpha Chi Omega: I love the way they got their name! Their philanthropy is fantastic… such a worthy cause!

Alpha Delta Pi: I am consistently blown away by how classy these women are. They have such a tangible love for each other and the ideals of their sisterhood. They truly are the “finest!”

Alpha Epsilon Phi: Another group of remarkable women with a strong sense of history. I’ve never met an AEPhi who wasn’t sweet and intelligent. Just an amazing group!!

Alpha Gamma Delta: I love the idea of two flowers… it’s beautiful. Their mascot is wonderful too (when I worked for a Vet hospital, we rescued a baby squirrel and named her “Alpha Gam”). Their alumni program is an inspiration to all of us.

Alpha Omicron Pi: You have to respect an organization that was founded by a group of women who were so loyal to each other!! That loyalty shines through to this day. And their badge is beautiful!!!

Alpha Phi: Their colors are so classy!! The Ivy leaf is a beautiful symbol too!

Alpha Sigma Alpha: The phoenix is such an inspirational symbol! I love the multiple colors and the different days that are special to the organization.

Alpha Sigma Tau: I had the pleasure of meeting a group of AST’s at a Panhellenic event and I loved them!! I also love the simplicity of their badge. Just a wonderful sisterhood.

Alpha Xi Delta: I love their open motto!! And who doesn’t love Bet-xi Bear?

Chi Omega: What a huge sisterhood!! They are a FUN group of women and are full of Panhellenic spirit.

Delta Delta Delta: I respect everything about this organization!! Their symbols are beautiful, the women are lovely and I LOVE the Trident guard on their badge!!

Delta Gamma: A very strong sisterhood with amazing spirit. They were fantastic on our campus! Anchor Splash is such a cool philanthropy event!

Delta Phi Epsilon: I had the pleasure of working with a DPhiE at my first teaching job and she was amazing. I met some of her sisters and they were all sweet and a ton of fun.

Delta Zeta: I love our Lamp, our Killarney Rose, our diamond… everything!! I am so honored to be part of this amazing group!!! My blood runs pink and green!!

Gamma Phi Beta: A very unique sisterhood... there is this cool aura of mystery that surrounds them that I think is so fascinating! I love that one of their colors comes from the name of one of the people who helped start the sorority.

Kappa Alpha Theta: Their badge is so beautiful and symbolic! I love the twin stars!! Cool colors, too!

Kappa Delta: My cousin is a Kappa Delta… they are obviously a great group of women!!

Kappa Kappa Gamma : Everyone’s ideal Greek organization. We are all indebted to them for creating such a positive public persona for sororities, as they are the most well known outside of the GLO community.

Phi Mu: True Southern genteel women. Gorgeous symbols (I love the quatrefoil) and Sir Fidel is adorable!

Phi Sigma Sigma: I love that they were founded as a Non-Sectarian sisterhood. Their twin ideals, the Sphinx, the pyramid… all beautiful representations of a strong sisterhood.

Pi Beta Phi: I love the 12-link chain on their badge representing their founders. Their badge is so simple and elegant (elegant… just like their members!).

Sigma Delta Tau: I can’t say enough wonderful stuff about this organization! When one of my sisters died tragically in a plane crash, all of the SDT’s wore pink and green ribbons under their (gorgeous) badges as a sign of solidarity. They stopped by our house everyday bringing food, helping us clean and giving us shoulders to cry on. I don’t think Delta Zeta would have made it through that horrible time without SDT’s kindness and generosity. That’s true Panhellenic spirit!

Sigma Kappa : Truthfully, I knew very little about this organization until I looked at their website, and now I know that they are awesome!! I was saddened to learn that their Alpha chapter no longer exists because the campus ceased greek life.

Sigma Sigma Sigma: I think that the sailboat is such a cool symbol and their colors are beautiful! Every Tri Sigma I’ve ever known has been so outgoing and warm!

Theta Phi Alpha: There is something about this group of women that screams classy!! In spite of their size, they are a tight and strong sisterhood. Our local chapter is so active in community service and all the sisters are lovely.

Zeta Tau Alpha: What’s cooler than a crown as a symbol? This is another group that has such a palpable love for each other. A great organization!
