Picture this, 8,000 aggies in overalls and maroon all yelling, "Hullabaloo kanuck, kanuck" Or some wierd business like that.

LMAO!
Glad to be safely in Florida where the chances are pretty slim that I will ever hear anyone utter A Whoop or hullabaloo kanuck kanuck. What is that even??

That is freaking hilarious, lifesaver! I had a prof once who was an Aggie and good hella gracious did he ever drive us nuts! He'd sit there and "practice" his yells DURING (yes DURING) our EXAMS!!

I think that the Aggie War Hymn starts out "Hullaballoo kanuck kanuck, Hullabaloo kanuck."
When all those students were killed at the Aggie bonfire a few years back, the University of Texas played the Aggie War Hymn at halftime of their game. Though I'm not a crier, I burst into tears in front of my astonished husband. All the years of antagonism between those 2 teams and UT played the War Hymn in honor of those students--maybe one would have to be a longtime Texan to truly understand what a tribute that was.....

Carnation, i will never forget that game and the events that led up to it.
The outpouring of support that A&M recieved from UT in my mind solidified the status of A&M and UT the epitome of rivals. You can't imagine 2 more different schools, but the history of Texas and both institutions are intertwined from the beginning.
The Ags and Horns will fight each other tooth and nail, but when push comes to shove, we are brothers and sisters under the Lone Star first and foremost. In spite of the great tragedy, the bond between the 2 schools strengthened and that is something that most Ags, including me, will never forget
LIFE-
Sorry to break this to you bud, but you ain't no horn. Just because you went to UTSA doesn't make you a longhorn. You're a Roadrunner, be proud. That makes as much sense as someone that goes to A&MK callin themself an Ag. Merely someone who is trying to be someone they ain't.
Oh, and Midnight Yell is usually in excess of 20,000 at Kyle Field. The 8,000 number is closer to what it is when we have Yell Practice at the steps of the capitol before the game with UT.
Do you want me to go into the Hex rally y'all throw? wait, sorry, that UT throws? i dont' think UTSA throws one. nothing sounds more high schoolish, "we're gonna curse you" than a bunch of hippies lighting candles, hoping some Voodoo queen named phyllis will help their fortunes.
Hullabaloo, Caneck Caneck are the opening strains of the Fightin Texas Aggie War Hymn. Noone is exactly sure what exactly they mean. They either reference the sound a train makes, passing by on rails (in homage to the days when College Station was merely a train depot) or the sound it makes when you load a shell into a cannon.
Cream,
A&M is more now than an Agricultural school. A&M was founded under the Morril Land Grant Act of 1862 which stated that each state would put aside land for the purpose of an institution of higher learning with grounding in agriculture and engineering. Today A&M's enrollment is 40,000+, with A&M's Lowry Mays Business School and Look Engineering College being among the top programs in the country in their fields.
yeah libra, it must be pretty heinous to have to put up with people who's alma mater is steeped in tradition and history and then have them be immensely proud of it. But don't feel too safe, the Aggie invasion of Florida starts in Sept. 2006 when the Ags travel to tallahassee to take on the the crimaNoles.
I'll be sure to WHOOP! really loud for you.....maybe it'll generate some pride in your own school, whatever the hell school you went to.

KS 361 times that being an Aggie is more than what it says on your diploma, its about heart, soul, tradition and some people just don't have enough to become one.

Settle Meijo. Its ok. Just having a little fun. To quote yall, from the outside looking in you cant understand it. But go with it.
I am proud to be a roadrunner, but as I also said, "Proud to be a member of the intellectual - tea sip UT system." One, poking fun at UT as well, but the UT system does a real good job of letting us know that we belong to them. they aint real big on letting us get real far with our own identies. Most big decisions have to be approved in Austin at the system HQ and such. Also all UT system schools have to have either orange or white as one of their school colors, have to use the UT system seal as their own (with the removal and substitution of the city name instead of austin) and all have to have the same motto. They let us know that we are the little brothers and sisters of the flagship institution. So while we might be Roadrunners, we are TEXAS Roadrunners. (Emphasis on Texas to indicate system, not state - and their emphasis, not mine). So theres alittle burnt orange in my blood regardless.
Of course, I do plan on doing my MFA at Austin tho, lol.
