Piano - elementary school (4th or 5th grade) never took it back up after my teacher past away at the end of the year

My last semester of college, I learned to play the double-seconds on the steel pan. I really wanted to learn, because it was a part of my culture. It was hard at first, because I was taught through reading music (which I had forgotten how to do). But after I got over that hump, I got so good that I didn't even need that sheets of music and could just play off memory, vibing to the music and melody. I could just feel it in my blood. For those who might not know what steel pan double seconds are, it is an instrument common in the Carribean. Some times it called the Steel drums and it is often played in Calypso and Soca music and I just fell in love with this instrment.

Below is a my favorite instument

I played the flute in elementary and middle school. Still break it out every now and again...

I really want to learn how to play the piano so I can write music. Took piano lessons until I was 6 so only know how to play the scales and "Mary had a Little Lamb."

Music Instrument

Way back in the good ole 80's (man those were some good times to grow up)
I played guitar and was in the band. Then I graduated to the Flute where I learned to huff and puff from 7th -12th grades. I can still whistle an ole tune if you try me!!

Band and chorus were a staple in every public school, and they took them away not knowing how damaging it would be to kids.

p.s. I had a secret jones for playing the saxophone, I used to wish I could play it, but my teacher was sexist and only allowed to boys to play. Guess he knew the secret it hold!!!

Enjoy Ladies

The Clarinet from 3rd to 7th Grade....got bored and wanted the sax but that wasn't happening..still have the clarinet. I always related to Vanessa on the Cosby show when she played it. Took piano lessons and even had an organ at home.

Dad played the drums and later I wished that is what I stuck with!

I played the clarinet for nine years. Because of it as every clarinet player knows, you have to move your pinkys out of the way. I still do this to this day when I am holding cups, sodas, etc. Needless to say my AKA friends(one whom I went to high school with and who also played the clarinet) clowned me alot It's all good though. I do miss playing though. I recently found out that my LS also played and has that pinky thing. I was like thank goodness I am not the only Delta that sticks out a pinky. Hee Hee.

I Love the Flute

I played the flute for 4 years as a member of concert band & pep band. I still try to pick it up from time to time but my reading music skills are getting rusty Lol.

I played oboe and flute 7-12th grades!

That reed for oboe was horrendous to moisten and expensive to buy then!

I loved the flute, but, doing solos in class and on the field sucked big time, but I did my thang ladies!!!
