Invites for pref...
I just got my invites for pref
Alpha Xi Delta
Delta Zeta
I kinda wondered why ADPi didn't invite me back but yesterday the conversations we had were kind of dry, but I thought they liked me. Well, tonight is pref at at 3 we meet to eat and then go to the parties at 5:45 I think. I am so excited but I am nervous a little because I am leaning toward one of the houses right now, but I still have this night...
Right now it's back to bed for me, I've not slept much this week.

Fewdfreak,
Enjoy the pref parties at both houses, and pay special attention to everything. This is the night when the chapters show their serious side, and you'll be able to get a glimpse into the heart of each sorority by listening carefully to the ceremonies.
Good luck! I know you'll be happy wherever you pledge, and I can't wait to hear the final results!

I am wearing a black dress with a boat neck. It is not low cut, and a-lind skirt that has a slit up the front and back, so I kind of have to be careful if it rides up, or someone will get a show. The back of the dress at the neck goes down in a v, and it zips at the back. It is like rayon, nylon, and lycra, so it's a little stetchy, but not clingy, and it's thick.

That outfit sounds very sleek and sophisticated! You will look great and I am sure you will have a great time! Only a little while until parties start!

Pref Nite
I just got back from pref and I had a great night.
First party was Alpha Xi Delta. They called our names out and we went inside. We went into the basement to eat this beautiful cheesecake with fondue. We also drank this good purple drink. The room was beautiful. We then went upstairs and talked for a while. Then we went into the living room and they all said what AZD meant to them, the sang some beautiful songs while they passed candles and roses. We put our rose petals into the fountain and my girl told me to make a wish, and that she hoped my wish was the same as hers. It was all very nice here.
Next was Delta Zeta, they formally introduced us and then introduced us to the women of DZ. We sat down and they addressed us, and we all went upstairs. I talked with one girl, and ate mousse. She read me a letter that she wrote for me and I teared up. She gave me a hug, and we talked, she asked me if I had anymore questions, and such, and I asked about a few things, and why she joined Delta Zeta. Her answer was that she wanted to get involved and have the sisterhood and be close. She came from a small town and was an only child, and though she was involved, she was shy, so this was an opportunity to meet people and develop leadership skills. Her answer is why I am rushing as well. We also talked about how some girls went to Navy Pier, and she never went there, so it was so fun. We also talked about saftey, and how you should get mace, and she accidentally maced her boyfriend once. She also told me once that her friend didn't lock her car doors downtown and a homeless man fell asleep in it! I thought that was so funny. She told me to choose with my heart and look at the potential pledge class, because I would become so close with them, the girls that I was rushing with that I was there with, I know I could call sister. I could call any of the sisters sister, too. We went downstairs and got a candle. They talked about what the sorority meant to them, and the seniors started to tell why they joined and what DZ meant to them. I started to cry, and a lot of the DZ's were sniffling and I saw tears. Then one woman got up and she was crying so she could barley talk, her sisters comforted her. The fact that all the sisters were crying and were there for her made me cry even more. You could tell in everyones teary faces that they were very close sisters. I don't usually cry, but by the end I had streaming tears. We got the rose, and broke off a petal, and put it into the fountain. I made a wish for Delta Zeta. The girl said that she hopes that she will see me tomorrow, and we hugged! I loved it here, and as I am writing this, I am starting to tear up again. A few PNM's were crying, but all of the sisters were, and at AZD, no sisters were, this fact demonstrated how close the sisterhood is at DZ. I really loved it here, and felt so at home, and so moved by the sisters. I hope that my wish for DZ comes true!
I'll think of more later, but I am still thinking about how great tonight was, the ceremony was so beautiful.

Okay, so now I am crying too!
I just graduated and have moved, so this is the first time since 1998 that I have not seen our pref ceremony (except when I was a Rho Chi). It means so much, and I bawled like a baby each time, most of all when my big sister gave the "I am a Delta Zeta and I belong..." speech...oh my gosh...I was always afraid I would put my candle out with my tears...
I certainly hope that your wish does come true like so many of ours have!

I'm offically not at school anymore and no long part of the rushing process - and although i'm emotional already with the events of my personal life this weekend - that post just made me cry so much harder....
i love my Delta Zeta sisters with all of my heart and they truly do demonstrate what sisterhood and friendship is. I am so glad that no matter what, our bond shines through and is evident in everything we do. i never had a doubt in my mind that my sisters and i would impress you with our sisterhood and bond
Thank you for that post - it was beautiful and it made me feel like i was at pref
best of luck for the morning - may you find whatever your heart desires
Nicole

Okay, I am such a dork. I'm home from a night out (and a few beers) and the first thing I do is run to the computer. Lauren, I am thinking good thoughts for you and I hope that tomorrow you will find Delta Zeta on your bid card. Good luck, and I absolutely can't wait to hear about your bid day!!!

Today our Rho Chi (A Gamma Phi!) will come by the room and tell us what sorority offered us a bid, and then we will accept or decline. If we accept then the girls will pick us up at 4-ish for a parade thingy and a barbeque at their house, then we will go to an all Greek picnic at a hotel and watch fire works! I can't wait. The fraternity guys bid day was yesterday, so they were out a lot last night, but tonight is our night!

My internet has been down so i got to read your whole rush story in one sitting. I have some wonderful DZ friends and my cousin is an AZD...so I know you have 2 great choices! You've had such an open mind and your pref story was so incredibly touching! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll get the house of your dreams!
