My Bama rec girls pledged Pi Phi and ADPi. Congratulations to the chapters on getting these 2 great girls!

My girls pledged: 1 Alpha Gam, 2 Phi Mu's, 1 Pi Phi.
Also heard the placement rate was slightly lower than last years - a little less than 90%.

The paper said this morning that the placement rate was 93%. 2683 attended the first round and 2488 got bids. 246 identified as minority women and 25 were African American.

DD's BFF went Gamma Phi. Haven't heard much about her experience- all she said was that after philanthropy round, she felt like the selection process was still mutual and she was happy. DD was watching closely as her school's recruitment (way more laid back than Alabama) isn't until next month.

I can't imagine a pledge class that size! I think my entire chapter was about 200 women. I pledged in spring and was one of 11 to 13, if I recall correctly!

So about half of a single pledge class. I think there's going to be a lot of pressure to expand. We'll see if housing can become available!

Well, any relief from possible expansion may be about three years away, by the time a new chapter would be recruiting anyway. And even with less growth than we have experienced over the last several years, we will still have pledge classes approaching these current numbers -- at that time -- even if two more chapters colonize by then.
I keep thinking that surely the growth will stabilize. Just five or six years ago (around the time the first wave of new houses was in the works), quota was in the 80s.
So unfortunately, I don't anticipate that expansion will improve the availability of sorority housing in any significant way!
