I can't 100% confirm, but I've heard that several places. I wish our website would recognize the writer as a notable alumna if it's true. Seriously, Estelle Leonard and the lyres would be a huge coincidence.

I've always heard the fleur di lis in the Campbell Soup cans are because Mrs. Campbell was a Kappa?
And Kate Jackson, who was a real-life Kappa, mentioned being a Kappa during an episode of her 80's show Scarecrow and Mrs. King.

LOL on Estelle Leonard! That was my maternal great grandmother's name! She was not AXO, though.

Not a symbol, but there was an episode of Sex and the City where Charlotte has lunch with her Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters. Any connections?
Theta Phi doesn't have many (or any) celeb alums that I'm aware of, but penguins do seem to be EVERYWHERE (March of the Penguins, Happy Feet) lately!

Jeff, Dave...they both have 4 letters!!!
I also just remembered that in Golden Girls (BTW Best show...EVER) Blanche Deveraux is going to her sorority reunion in one episode and she talks about the great times she had as an Alpha Gam. Which I thought was kinda odd b/c Rue McClanahan is a KAO, but I figured someone who wrote it is a sister or she has a family member that is one and wanted to say it for them. Either way it's super cool!!!

For all those Alpha Gams out there....
Amber from Survivor in Austrailia was an AGD, as well as Gloria Loring (an actress from Days of Our Lives).
We've also had a Miss America, but that was in 1947!
This info, along with lots of other interesting facts about Accomplished Alpha Gams can be found on our website

Betty White, "Rose" on the Golden Girls, is a Delta Zeta. I watch the show all the time trying to catch her say something about her sorority! (However, I doubt they had sorority girls in Saint Oliff!) Oh, we used to have a whistle too! (I've just never heard it...plus I can't whistle so I could never do it!)

So proud to be a DELTA ZEE!

My two cents....
There's a Beta Theta Pi paddle on the wall during the opening credits of the sitcom "Coach" (before he moved to Florida). I don't remember any episodes that specifically mention him being a fraternity member, though. (Maybe that's a blessing. ) As I recall, none of the actors in the show were Betas; one of the producers saw the paddle somewhere, liked it, bought it, and hung the prop next to the door.
But what the heck, I'll take free publicity anytime.

michael eisner is a DU, and the mighty ducks logo (the mask and hockey sticks) resembles our superimposed letters (our badge) turned upside down. also, Delta Upsilon's unofficial mascot is the noble duck. and in the cartoon series the story line follows the legend of some alien thingy named Drake DuCaine. the Ducaine part comes from DU. like in delta upsilon, also member of the fraternity are often referred to as DU's and ducks.

Milton Caniff was a Sigma Chi and cartoonist who drew two popular strips (well, popular in their day). The first was "Terry and the Pirates". It was very successful, especially during World War II. Mr. Caniff also drew "Steve Canyon", another successful strip. In "Steve Canyon", Caniff added a lot of Sigma Chi symbols. He was notorious for dropping in Sigma Chi references in strips that were published right before rush. He also drew may of the illustrations that were in our pledge book, "The Norman Shield".

Um, some of these are completely ridiculous.
It's kind of like me saying "guys, (insert movie name) has doves in it!! Well, actually they are pigeons but everyone knows pigeons are just doves that are gray.... anyway, I TOTALLY saw a dove, so this movie MUST have been written, acted, filmed, and directed TOTALLY by sigma kappas."

Well nothing has ever been made official by our headquaters, but the entire movie Moulin Rouge should hold a special place in any Phi Mu Alpha's heart!
