You get burned at the stake.

The other thing that makes me giggle about all this is that then for going out, you need to put on what is basically a cocktail dress and heels, do hair and makeup to Oscar night caliber, etc. For someone from a small school it's hard to see the point. Like everyone didn't see you running around in your tennis shoes and jogging shorts the rest of the week, and putting a dress on is going to wipe it all out.

And the men don't dress up at all so it makes for a very stark yin/yang contrast. Makes me wonder about these young men, are they gentlemen or not? I think not.

What do they wear/what do you consider guys "dressing up"? I wouldn't expect them to wear a suit or sport jacket or anything - just not dirty sweats and t-shirts.

Chacos are mandatory. Do not substitute another brand for Chacos.

I've seen pics of dates with a golf polo and khaki shorts next their honeys dressed to the nines (ans seen it at restaurants in town), that is the stark yin/yang contrast I've noted. Hell this trend has even been blogged in the past by Gawker, so it's all over the country, not just here. Some men don't think that we are worth it. Those man-boys are vastly mistaken, just wish all our NPC collegians knew their self worth!

So I went looking on Google and found an article that sounds like I wrote it once you've read the above. Sadly it doesn't have any pictorial examples of the poorly dressed men. http://restaurantrefugee.com/2008/07...tolerate-them/

A 30 year old man dressed like that at a nice restaurant?! Dude, it's time to grow up! My husband would rather die than dress like that. He prides himself on his very nice wardrobe with his up to date print button down shirts, slim cut pants, well tailored jackets and shoes made for adult men. He turned 31 in December and wouldn't be caught in a pair of khaki shorts unless we were strolling at an outdoor festival drinking a beer!

Must have been one of the reasons you thought he was a keeper.

That's what I fail to understand about the "dressing up for football games" thing. Women are dressed up in heels and a dress and the guy has a polo and jeans on.

I have got to admit, the Nike shorts at recruitment sort put me off. Now, I feel that for at least one round it is a great idea. The pnm and collegians are both comfy. Plus, I have always felt there was a bit of "false advertising" with the way the women dress in recruitment. All four rounds they are all dolled up then the day after bid day you never see them in anything but Nike shorts and t-shirts unless they are headed out on the town!

LOL! I just came on GC so I could comment that there were some very nice items that had been pinned by Ole Miss Panhellenic on Pinterest.

OMG thanks for putting those links here. I've been adding information to the initial post, but adding a new post also helps those who have browsed here before!
