I really liked Legally Blonde as well. Reese Witherspoon had some of the cutest outfits. I also just saw Black Knight this past weekend, and I laughed so hard!

I didn't think it would be that funny..

P.S I am fairly new to this site so hello to everyone!

Talking

I recently rented a movie titled "The Usual Suspects" starring Kevin Spacey. This has got to be one of the best movies ever made. If you've never seen it, I would definitely recommend it.

I've seen "The Usual Suspects" before and I thought it was one of the best movies that I've ever seen at the time. Until I saw "American Beauty." Welcome to Greekchat, 4ever-blessed!

Thank you lil_sunshine. I actually saw "The Usual Suspects" and "American Beauty" on the same night. I must say that I really liked "American Beauty" , but "The Usual Suspects" blew my mind.

I agree!!!! Like Water for Chocolate, I can read that book over and over and over, but I've only seen the movie once. The Piano... that movie was off the hook.

WARNING: If you plan on seeing Memento don't read!!

Maybe, I'm just slow but I didnt understand Memento. I rented it, because I heard it was a good movie but to me it was boring, long, and confusing.

It just must have went over my head. Could someone explain it to me? I think I understand that Sammy's story was his own and he had already killed his wife's murderer a long time ago.

Maybe, I think so....I'm lost.
But I did see Ocean's Eleven yesterday, and I thought that was good!!!!

You know its hard for me...I am a filmmaker. So typically, I go for the gut wrenching stuff. But, movies like Cats and Dogs and Monsters Inc. have great technical merit that make me say...lemme check this one out. BTW, I have not seen Cats and Dogs...yet, but we will definitely check it out! Kinda appropriate thematically...get it "cats and dogs" LOL

I ordered today on In Demand and it is such a CUTE MOVIE!! I was soooooo happy to see the DOGS win. Those cats were so uncute -- I am not a cat person @ all.

This might be the movie my students see on the last day before holiday break.

The special effects were great.

"You're either in or your out..."

The D.H. and I saw "Ocean's Eleven" tonight. It's a bit of candyfloss, all style and only a little substance, but I for one was in the mood for something like that. It was pretty adeptly acted, Don Cheadle gets to put on a faux British accent (lawd help me!) and Julia Roberts plays the girl... and has very little to do in an otherwise entertaining film.

Definitely worth paying full price for!

"Chocolat" is about a mysterious woman that suddenly appears in a very conservative town with her young daughter. She really stirs things up by opening a chocolaterie during a religious season, and is accused of no less than witchcraft. Eventually, with her shop open, she begins to awaken the dull town and brings a lot of adventure and a lot of passion. Quite a romantic story.

Ok, the thing is, the movie moves BACKWARDS. So you see the end first. You have to keep that in mind during the whole movie, because you need one scene to understand the next. I think that Sammy Jankis' character was real, EXCEPT, he didn't have a wife. Other than that, his story was real. The part that he MADE himself believe, was the fact that Sammy had a wife. He created his own memories by the notes that he wrote down. Yes, he had already killed his wife's murderer. That's another memory he changed with his notes. What they DIDN'T show in the move, is the tattoo that gives it all away, you only see it for a HOT second at the end of the movie. I say watch it again, lol. It's one of those movies (like Fight Club) where when you watch it a 2nd time, you catch all the stuff that you missed, and you get a better understanding of it.

I have to say, the special features on the DVD WHOMPED!!!!

I finally saw this movie this weekend (today actually) and was quite impressed. It wasn't nearly as "ghetto fabulous" as I thought. The moral of the movie was on point ~ no matter how many games you play, and rules you abide by ~ true love prevails in the midst of all of that.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Dang,
I will go and support this movie, as I have all of the other African American movies that have been released. I must say though I am tired of seeing the SAME people in every movie.

For example, let's just review these movies....

The Best Man Morris Chesnut, Nia Long Tay Diggs, Sanaa Lathan

The Wood
Tay Diggs, Tamala Jones, Sanaa Lathan

Love & Basketball
Omar Epps, Sanaa Lathan

The Brothers
Morris Chesnut, Tamala Jones, Gabrielle Union

2 Can Play the Game
Morris Chesnut, Gabrielle Union, Tamala Jones

I know that there are more than 6 or 7 Talented African American actors in Hollywood!

Let's not Forget Nia Long, and The guy that Played "Terance" In the best man. And Cuba gooding. What happend to O Dog?? *Larenz Tate* ha ha ha.
Well They are making the way in Hollywood, and opening doors, as with everything, We have to be patient. Right now Those people have the "look" That hollywood wants to portray to us right now. Remember Waaaaaaaaaay back in the day when the Color purple had every black actor you can think of.. Look at them Now, Oprah, danny glover, Whoopie,....... They came in clusters but make paths, for the next generation.
