OMG That's my name. I have not seen anyone else named this.
But, I hate it because growing up everyone would tease me as Mary Ellen from the Waltons. OR I would be called Helen Mary. I just grin and bared it.

Mary Claire is a bit too close to the magazine, Marie Claire, for my taste. I LOVE the name Charlotte...way before Sex and the City.
In my parents' generation the big name was Rose for women. Both sides in fact had multiples.

I'll throw my name into consideration. Mary Marguerite and no I am not Catholic. Mary is after my mother's favorite aunt Mary Louise. Marguerite was my paternal grandmother. Mary was a very common name when I was growing up, so we had many Mary's in my chapter. All we Mary's went by nicknames. One Mary was introducing herself on pledge night to the chapter. She had a very unique last name and someone told her to say it in slow motion. She was hence forth known as Mary Slo-Mo.

My dad's middle name was his mother's maiden name. So according to this thread, my dad was a southern belle. Who'd a thunk it?

Ditto for my brother, whose middle name is our mother's maiden name. Unfortunately, he does not bear any resemblance in any way, shape or form to anything southern, despite being born in TN (but not raised there). More's the pity.

You must remember though that in the South we slur the second syllable of the first name to make the middle name sound like it's part of the first name. So, my friend's daughter's name of Sarah Ashley is pronounced more like Sarashley...and Mary Grace is Margrace both with a slight hint of the 2nd syllable of the first name but not really articulated.

With absolute best of intentions a good friend (who was only going to have one child, not by choice) decided to get ALL her favorite names (with honoring relatives) into one name: Hence: Carolinerose Hillary. Try saying that fast!

It's common for the women in my family to have double middle names (and we're not from the south). My great-grandmother thought this was a great idea and it's been a tradition ever since.
My middle name is Mary Jade, my sister's is Anna Marie, and my mother's is Mary Catherine. The list goes on for several aunts and countless cousins.

If they are named through the Southern tradition of a family last name perhaps they are related and are legacies or received similar strong recs? Or maybe it is something more sinister and someone stole someone's baby name by overhearing it and they are separated by various degrees. Where's Jessica from Murder Show Wrote?
I like looking at naming trends and having some "o rly?" moments as I have a traditional classic name and rarely meet other women my age with the exact spelling, so I find names so fascinating. My last name is also pretty rare and until recently everyone with it I knew how we were related but now a whole bunch of Nigerians on facebook have it and it has gotten me wondering.

A friend just sent me a link to this website that does name totes, and I can't believe the ones that they carry...Bryna? Dara? Tori? Are these popular now?
(side note: I think the one for Jamie is ADORABLE. I wish that was my name!)

90210 premiered in 1990. That explains the Tori.
