I totally agree, ree-Xi. Sam's whole past, adoption, etc. is different from the books and I hate it. His "niceness" has always been his allure. The back story of him being a burglar/murderer just doesn't fit. There are plenty of "edgy" characters already.

I also don't like how they've made Calvin into a complete jerk. My daughter said, "at least they kept Terry nice!"

Yeah, I really hate what they've done with Sam and Calvin too. The show has strayed SOOOOO far from the books that I don't even think its a fair comparison anymore, and I LOVE the books. Sookie/Bill needs to break the F up already, cause Dead to the World is ALL about Sookie/Eric. And Bill in the show annoys me anyway. I'm all the way Team Eric

The finale was lackluster. I did not get the " OMG I can't wait for next season!" feeling at all.

Not the best finale I've ever seen, that's for sure. I've got to say, I was way too distracted by Russell's burnt, flaky skin for most of it. I'm not going to lie, I expected more from HBO.

That was hysterical. I'll have to read the others.

ETA: Some thoughts about this season:

- I'm surprised Tara hasn't gone more off the deep end, though like her when she's tough. I was wondering if her character actually leaves, but an IMDB search gave me the answer. I love her hair shorter (even if it was done during a freak out - that's the worst time to change your hairstyle lol).

- I hate the new Sam back story. His family storyline sucked, and now this tortured past - it doesn't feel right for his character.

- Finding out that Bill set up the attack on Sookie so he could drink her blood was a surprise.

- Why did they save Russell? I wanted to hurl every time I saw his charred head. I had to cover my eyes. That stuff gets in my head and in my nightmares.

- LOL and WTF @ Sookie pouring Talbot down the drain, and Bill shoving Eric into the cement. Those were moments of sheer insanity and quite freaked me out.

- Crystal is super annoying. And what kind of town name is "Hot Shot"?
