Wow, what a find. I saw the IC badge and came by to make sure that someone here had noticed it -- as of course you had.

One of my sisters emailed the piphi list at our school about that pin...she said she emailed the high bidder asking about their intentions if they were to win the auction. I emailed her asking whether she's received a response or not, I'll let you ladies know what she says. It's a gorgeous pin...I cant believe the man doesnt want to keep such a cool part of his family history around

He probably doesn't "get" it. After all, the woman writes that she doesn't even know who exactly the pin belongs to.

I told the current Mr. (non greek) HotDamn about it, and he was like, "for the PIN? I thought the secret stuff was in the letters?" which I thought was pretty insightful for someone who doesn't have a GLO of his own!

I don't understand why someone would put it up for bid for the fact that someone non/greek none the less non/pi phi would get it you know??

I recognized some of the bidders as officers but I haven't checked today to see how high it's gotten... I hope it's a Pi Phi but I fear it's a collector, or worse, someone who will turn around and try to sell it for a profit.

It would be such a shame to see that beautiful pin fall into the hands of someone who just wants to sell it for profit, but I imagine with all the things coming up to auction these days it would be impossible for HQ to rescue all of them (although this one is extra special).

What does, by the way, become of badges returned to HQ for whatever reason? Are they kept or sold to members?

Hi kappa2! Thanks for stopping by with that info, it's very interesting. Pi Phi's Holt House is a place where our founders stayed as they were formulating the ideas behind Pi Phi. Today, Holt House is like a Pi Phi museum of sorts. When you visit Monmouth, you can tour there, you can go there for initiations or chapter events, stuff like that. Since we're not headquartered in Monmouth, it's a way of preserving our connection to our founders.

**...but do beware of the grumpy lady upstairs....try NOT to get on her bad side, especially if you're at the Holt House early in the morning for initiation!
**..and watch yourself on the deadly back stairwell leading from her office to the kitchen...very unforgiving should you fall
**And beware the dolls!! The ones with the real hair?!! It's rumored that the hair on the dolls is the real hair of each Founder that each doll represents...apparently they'll talk to the IL Alpha girls. Us IL Beta-Deltas? We looked at them and decided that they were creepy...they stare at you!

Dont know if the Kappa founding house is anything like the Holt House, but I've seen it. Very pretty...right across the street from Monmouth's "Fraternity Complex"

Sorry to crash but:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...920023230&rd=1

Please don't let this schmuck Tyregon get this. He is a nasty little pin collector!

There are 5 hours left and he is the top bidder
