Bump (because we don't have enough wedding threads, obviously)
My fiance and I have pretty much decided on Hawaii for our honeymoon, but are completely torn about which island to visit, where to stay, etc. We are leaning towards Maui, but are totally open to suggestions. Any opinions on the big resorts (the Westin, Hyatt, etc.)?
Any other exciting honeymoon plans all you brides-to-be?

My husband and I went on a cruise last year for our honeymoon. We went on the Oasis of the Seas with Royal Caribbean, which is technically (by 2 inches) the 2nd largest boat in the world! We went on a 7 night cruise to the Bahamas, St Thomas, and St Maarten! We LOVED every minute of it!
I keep telling people that the hardest part of planning the wedding for us was planning the honeymoon! We love to travel, so trying to decide where to go was the hardest part!!!

KappaMD, my husband and I went to the big island of Hawaii for our honeymoon back in 1985. We stayed near Kailua-Kona and loved the village & the black sand beaches. We had a rental car and drove up into the mountains on a road that a villager later told us was haunted (we also learned that we should not have driven the car on that road, as the rental agencies do not want their customers on that road), but we spent that day circumnavigating the entire island, and loved the experience. We were there the first part of June during the anniversary of King Kamehameha's birthday and they had a huge parade-it was fabulous!
We were friends with several couples that had honeymoons on Maui, and they all loved that island. One couple stayed near Hana in a condo and the highlight of their trip was a whale watching excursion.
My SIL and her family went to Kauai a couple of years ago and loved it. I think they stayed at a Sheraton-wherever they stayed the hotel was right on the beach.
I don't think you can go wrong honeymooning in Hawaii!

I went to the big island last July and fell in love with it immediately. I would highly, highly recommend it. We stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa, which is on the dry side of the island. It's all lava rocks and white coral and sparse scenery. Then if you go over to the wet side, it's all lush greenery. Just amazing.
My parents have been to Kauai, Maui, Oahu and the big island, and liked Maui and the big island best. They say Maui is the most traditionally tropical. My mom did say that Kauai would be awesome for a honeymoon -- very romantic.

I've been to Hawaii twice.
The first time, I was a small child. We visited Oahu (Waikiki) and Maui. Even then (and we're going back - let's just say more than 20 years) it was very touristy - ginormous hotels, good luck getting a spot on the beach, etc.
The second time was just after I earned my bachelor's degree, but I was traveling with my parents - IIRC the trip was part of my graduation gift from them. We went to the Big Island and Lana'i. On the Big Island, we stayed at a resort outside Kona. We rented a car and drove around the island (my dad even let me drive the rental - surprising since he knows I have a lead foot), and we saw whales. Lana'i at the time was just starting to be developed. We took a puddle-jumper so tiny that we were asked to give our body weight when checking in. There were two main hotels - Manele Bay and The Lodge at Koele - sister properties. If you want peace and quiet, go there. If you want adventure, Lana'i is also a good spot - we hired a Jeep and guide for a day and drove to some beautiful locations on the island. And my father fell in a hole. (He was not injured.) LOL
My favorite out of the four was the Big Island. Although seeing my dad get stuck in a hole is a close second. LOL
