Who invited Da Brat to be the narrator? I could have done without her. The movie was still a mess.

Please understand that Civil Brand (produced and directed by sistahs) was under a lot of pressure from their distributors to film and release it in a VERY short turnaround time (their 25 day shooting schedule became a 14 day schedule at the last minute). It seemed like an uphill battle for the two to get the movie finished, thus forcing them to cut corners on plotlines and character development. And BTW, they HATED the DVD cover, b/c it looked like something out of an (s)exploitation movie, but their distributors wanted something to the effect of what you now see on the cover.
Cut them some slack, given the time constraints they had, they did a pretty good job, though I agree that with more time, it would've been a heckuva lot better.
ETA: Another entry from the vault (on the LisaRaye/Monica Calhoun tip):
Gang of Roses (originally titled Guns and Roses)
Featuring Monica Calhoun, LisaRaye, Stacy Dash, Lil' Kim, and [an Asian actress whose name escapes me at the moment] in a Black Western featuring 5 female bandits and a cameo by Posse's own Mario Van Peebles. Oh, also starring Glenn Plummer and Bobby Brown. Directed by Jean Claude LaMarre (the director of "Go For Broke"--see above post for synopsis).
Not a bad Western chick flick.
