What did they want? Like in depth descriptions of Bella & Edward having sex? I thought there was plenty of sex in the book! Especially once Bella became immortal.
It was nice seeing Edward being human, in this book.

I agree about Reneesme.. icky name. My daughter and I both thought it was funny that Jacob imprinted on her. That definitely leaves the truce in place. I was also in shock when Bella became pregnant.
Interesting perspective from my 14 year old daughter. She did not want Bella to change (although figured she would in this book) because "She's way too young to be making decisions about forever, she's just stupid" I was rather surprised to hear her say that, but it reassured me that my 14 year old is wise beyond her years and is still into making smart choices for herself.
An interesting observation of my own... although everyone who met Reneesme was enamored with her, I didn't feel that for her. I didn't think she was written as very likeable.
I liked that they resolved everything with Charlie too, so Bella didn't have to give up EVERYTHING like she originally thought.

I wasn't really happy with this book, but not becase of the lack of sex and violence. I thought there was too much back pedalling and rationalizing so that everyone, save the Volturri and Irina, got what they wanted.
I figured early on that the only way Bella would be changed would be for some life threatening event to happen so the baby was too easy a plot device so that Bella and Edward get to be immortal but PARENTS TOO! I never warmed to Renesmee, and totally agree that it is a stupid name. Shortening it to Nessie as a cute nickname only reenforced how silly I thought the name was.
I always thought of myself as a Team Edward girl, but through the course of the books I grew to really love Jacob. There were times that I wanted to slap him upside the head but I really loved him. The one great big thing that I did not love was him imprinting on Renesemee. I thought Meyer was throwing a red herring in the story when Bella continued to assume that she was carrying a boy. After reading the scene with Quil and Claire my ick factor started kicking in. I suspected that this was how Meyer would give everyone their happy ending.
All in all, this book didn't work for me. I adore the rest of the series, and I plan on rereading Breaking Dawn to see if my opinion changes. If it doesn't, this book isn't staying on my keeper shelf.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who thought that! I KNEW it was going to happen because she made such a big deal about Jacob finding that girl that he'd imprint with...and then viola, Renesmee comes. I would have rather seen Meyer commit to either Edward or Jacob for Bella, not this whole "now we'll all be family!! yay!"
I still haven't decided how I feel about Renesmee & the whole Bella getting pregnant thing. I never thought Edward would change her, I thought it was going to be Alice, and I didn't think it would be under life-threatening circumstances,. So that whole "twist" was unexpected for me and I rather liked that circumstance.

I squeezed in time here and there [who am I kidding - I totally avoided what all I've needed to do the past 2 nights] and have finished the book.
Better than the last few - I'm actually glad Bella is finally not the helpless female who must always need protection.
The twist at the end with Alice was the only one that threw me... the rest I saw coming.
All in all, though - good crack cocaine for the mind. I'm satisfied.

If you end up "not likin' it", you could donate it to my school's library....

I also wanted to add/ask--did anyone else see a slight Nathanial Hawthorn like parallel with Renesmee and Pearl from the Scarlet Letter? That child just creeped me out!

My little sister (biological, not sorority) went to the midnight release party but our mom had already ordered her a copy on amazon. Poor thing JUST got it in the mail today!! She's trying to finish her summer reading for HS and start the book too!

This book just had a whole lot of WTF in it for me. I knew Bella was going to change, that I was fine with and even wanted, but I hated the imprinting, Renesmee/Nessie, Rosalie thing...ugh. I don't know I will re-read it, but it didn't make me want to continue reading the way that the others did.
I'm still kind of "meh", I think I need to re-read and digest before I have a real opinion. I wanted a knock down drag out with the Volturi though...boo.

Glad to be of service.
I don't know, I'm still on the fence. I hate being on the fence.

Breaking Dawn wasn't what I thought it was going to be... there were def. alot of WTF and OMG moments.. i loved that bella got pregnant but Renesme didn't come off to me as adorable as stephanie tried to make her out to be. I def fell in love with Edward again in this book and thankfully Jacob wasn't that much of a douchebag because in Eclipse i soo wanted to choke him. but i didn't like how he got all pissed when he realized that edward and bella were going to have an actual honeymoon (helloooo what did he expect???)
I'm happy but disappointed at the same time that no one died.. i think i'm more anxious for MIDNIGHT SUN (Edward's version of Twilight) to come out.
by the way did anyone else notice that at the very end of the book it's advertising for a Twilight Guide... i don't think that's neccessary.. but maybe that's just me

I still say its because Meyer tried to make everyone happy. Nessie was born and Jacob imprinted so that it could make the "Team Jacob"-ers happy. Plus Nessie's birth also gave a reason for Bella to go through the change.
And although I wish they had fought with the Volturi, there would have been noway the Cullen & friends could have won. I know I wouldn't have wanted dead Cullens.

It was just a little too "neat" in the end. I loved Jacob in these books, but I found it a little disturbing for him to imprint on Bella's daughter. And...I HATE the name Renesme....it is soooo ugly! Breaking Dawn just seemed like an afterthought...like they dragged the story out a little too long and didn't have enough to flesh out an entire 4th book.
