Again, I wouldn't put letters on my butt (frowned upon by chapter; not campus culture) but I am fond of my Victoria Secret "PINK" capris which have a huge rose colored PINK written on the bootie and the actual capris are white and they do match many of my Phi Mu recruitment shirts! They are a kinda great tool without being "direct". You can't get much bigger than that PINK (and they actually make my butt look great! I get TONS of compliments with them, they emphasize ).

Ha ha, it's when you get a wedgie in your letter shorts or pants and the letters are part of the wedgie. When faced with a letter wedgie it becomes extremely difficult to identify the sorority because the letters are smushed together or parially obscured by the wedgie.
And dude, some of those things got WEDGED. *shudder* So, for example ADPi works because the Delta prevents the wedgie, but SK doesn't because a wedgie could/would occur.

That's why I really like the letters down the side of pants thing. But I'm like AGDSquirrelGirl in that I don't wear writing or whatever on my butt in the first place.

We had one group on campus that were butt-letter girls. My chapter actually had a by-law against them. And, I agree, if you MUST have your letters on your pants, get the kind where the letters go down the front.

I mean really...sit, fart...NO. There's an easy solution, too...there are track pants with letters down one of the legs. If you must have letters on your pants, what's wrong with those? They're cute and at least they aren't being SAT upon.

I was having a discussion with one of my friends who is not in ADPi and she said her chapter was fine with having them (I'm not going to say who), but I think it's completely disrespectful to have your letters on your butt. You don't take your letters to the bar, to drink, to have sex...
I also agree -- I would hate thinking people are staring at my butt wondering with "A Triangle HUH?" is. haha.

My chapter has always had various prints, patterns, and colors. Now, if another sorority, say Alpha Phi, is using their colors for their recruitment shirts, the other sororities will be respectful and not use those colors at all on our shirts.
But, each 'family' in my chapter also has their own prints or colors for their 'family' shirts. (example, one has a black shirt, with a silver background, and a verigated green letters....another has a grey hoodie, with a rainbow colored foreground letter with stars and the background is purple with silver stars--looks cool). So, within the chapter, the girls respect those designs.
But, on my campus, no one only wears their colors, they were all kinds of designs.

On my campus, it didn't matter and people wore letter shirts and jerseys in all colors and patterns. Some "families" had family patterns to their jerseys.

Regarding letters on the butt, I think that it is disrespectful. I cannot imagine sitting on my letters. Or sHitting on my letters, either.

Hahaha thanks for that one, I laughed aloud.
Glad to see there are other people out there who are cool with random patterns...I go to an orange school in Georgia, and I just ordered a white jersey with red cuffs and NC State letters...and NC state doesn't have an AGD chapter! How many offenses is that in one jersey? Ha!

Opinions may differ, here's one:
When it comes to wearing our symbols, it is generally about the meaning behind the symbols and not violating most of our organization's written (and unwritten) protocol regarding patterns, colors, and so forth.
When it comes to just wearing clothes in certain colors (without the symbols), for ME it's about both the meaning and the identifiability as a member when I wear Crimson and Cream or red and white. But I usually don't wear my Sorority's colors or symbols when I go to Greek events.

I don't care if girls wear other colors in their letters. If guys wear other colors, plaid, paisely or dots it is extremly gaaaaay. I doubt Derek Jeter will ever be caught wearing a pink, green and paisley Yankee cap. A Rod probably has one though.

Why (if I may ask)?
This is coming from a neo who is trying her best to restrain herself from wearing colors/letters/pins all the time.

not to answer for DSTCHAOS, but it cames with age for me. I don't usually wear colors or symbols to greek events either. I stopped that around 5 years in the game.
