Red face HS Girls Basketball Game

http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlot...l/16177552.htm

11:42 am | N.C girls team defeats rival, 109-9
Associated Press
PINETOPS, N.C. - With less than a minute remaining, SouthWest Edgecombe scored as many points as their opponents could manage in an entire game.

The final score Tuesday night after the Cougars went on a final 9-point run was 109-9 and it left the losing coach of North Edgecombe fuming.

"We didn't execute because we don't have a good ball handler," said Warrior coach James Vines. "We could not beat their press. But (Cougar coach Sandra Langley) kept some of her starters in the entire game and they pressured us the whole game. She didn't have to do that."

It's the second single-digit drubbing in four games this year for North, which lost 73-9 on Friday to Tarboro and 33-25 to Jamesville on Nov. 28. Their sole win came the next day in a rematch with Jamesville, a 30-15 victory at home.

Langley insisted she tried not to run the score up, playing her entire bench and stopping the full-court press at halftime. Even so nine of her 12 players scored.
"You have to tell the kids to play hard, that's just basketball," she said.

Man Tries to Stuff Wife into oven

A man has been arrested after allegedly trying to force his estranged wife into an oven on Thanksgiving in front of their five children.

Martin Luther Jackson, 31, of Decatur, has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, cruelty to children and possession of marijuana after the Nov. 23 incident, said Sgt. Jodi Shupe of the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.

Jackson and his 29-year-old wife, who have been separated since July, have five children ranging in age from 1 to 13 years old, Shupe said. Jackson apparently started fighting with his wife after she and the children returned to their Conyers home on Thanksgiving.

At one point during the fight, Jackson allegedly attempted to stuff his wife inside the kitchen oven, which had been left on to heat the house, Shupe said. The woman escaped and went to the sheriff's office with visible head injuries, Shupe said.

Investigators found Jackson hiding under a bed at his mother's house in Decatur, where he had been living since the separation, Shupe said.

Woman Tells Cop She Bought 'Bad Crack'

Posted: Today at 9:03 p.m.
HAWTHORNE, Fla. — A North Carolina woman was arrested after complaining to a police officer that the crack cocaine she had just purchased wasn't very good, authorities said.

Eloise D. Reaves, 50, approached the Putnam County sheriff's deputy at a convenience store Friday, telling him that another man had sold her "bad crack" that contained wax and cocaine.

She pulled an alleged crack rock out of her mouth and placed it on the deputy's car for inspection, the Palatka Daily News reported for Tuesday editions.

The deputy told Reaves that she would be arrested if the crack tested positive for cocaine.

She was charged with possession of cocaine and bonded out for $1,504.

Approaching a police officer about an ILLEGAL substance being "bad"..... That's a definite sign that she needs to leave the crack alone.
