Congratulations to the Spurs. I've got to say, these last 3 games were basketball at it's finest. There haven't been many, nor will there be many, NBA finals that comes down to 12 minutes of play.
Now we'll just be hoping that tonight wasn't Larry Brown's last game as a coach.

The Spurs are going to seize the NBA Finals Trophy and carry it off onto the river by force. Seems accurate to me.

Oh good lord. I must have missed the part where Tim Duncan seized and carried off Ben Wallace.

Oh yeah, Chauncey, your last name is really Phillips. You or someone in your family should learn how to spell.

Why are you Spurs boys being all nasty?! You won, but happy not mean. No name calling needed!
It was a good game but I wish I wouldn't have stayed up so late for a loss. I'd be a lot happier if I was tired but there was another Piston championship!! Oh well....
BTW, I'm seriously not being a sore loser, those champ hats are kinda ugly. I thought they were trucker hats at first!

Cuz didn't you know that alot of people in Texas have a lot of class?
This was a reallly good series. The teams were evenly matched and every game was a good one, whether Pistons lost or not. Definitely sad about the loss tho, but at least it wasn't as boring as last year's when the Pistons killed the Lakers every night.

I think that these two teams were perfectly matched and honestly it could have been either team that won the championship this year, I do not think that either team is better than the other. Of course I am THRILLED that my boys won , but the Pistons were a worthy opponent and I would not have been surprised if they had won. One of the reasons I adore the Spurs so much is because when they win they are never pompous, obnoxious, or rude about it. They always give a lot of credit to the other team and players like Tony Parker and Tim Duncan never give all the credit to themself, even if they might actually deserve to do so. They realize how important their teammates are and how it took all of them to win the championship, not just one or two people. Not only are the Spurs an awesome basketball team, but they are a classy bunch of guys too. I don't think that trash talking and name calling are necessary from ANYBODY, it's stupid and pointless. Yes, the Spurs won and I am so excited but they're not standing on ESPN calling the Pistons thugs and losers, so nobody should be. Lets just be happy that our team won the championship this year and enjoy that fact alone.
/soapbox
And also, I know that people like trash talking with sports but really there is a way to do so that isn't quite as hurtful and inappropriate as the stuff that's been going on in this thread
Ok, I'm really done now, I swear!

I think both teams were really classy guys the whole time. When one team got blown away, they admitted that the other team was good and that they played weak. When each team did well, they still praised the other team for how good they were. I was impressed with the Spurs interviews I saw last night where they talked about how good Detroit was and that they couldn't relax for a minute. Conversely, the Pistons were talking about how the Spurs were a great team. I believe it helps that the coaches are so close to each other. Popovich was Brown's assistant coach and they have very similar coaching styles. Good NBA Finals. The best in many years. It was quite a rollercoaster and I have to admit, I'm glad it's over so I can get some sleep again. What did they have against having Friday and Saturday games? They were all Tues, Thurs, Sun... all work nights, with games going past midnight every time!

The Pistons are thugs.
Also, kinda interesting, cause everytime a ref made a call against the spurs I only saw two players bitch (in game seven). Every time a ref made a call against the Pistons they always bitched and whined and cried and if there woudl have been dirt on the court, they would have kicked it.
I can call them losers, because they did lose the series. However the reference was to their cockyness with the belts thing. If they got the balls to wear it and be cocky about it, then they best be prepared for people to call 'em out when they are no longer the champs.
BTW, PM - When was the last time a chair and a punch were thrown at the SBC center? Yeah, thats what I thought. The last person who needs to be talking about another city's class is a Detriot fan. It certainly wasnt someone from Texas who threw that beer.
Pistons fans are the best ever.

A few fans out of 22,000 some does NOT make a whole city or its fans. And wtf are you talking about belt thing? Pistons deserve to be cocky. Last year no one thought they could do it and they made it to the top so who cares if they are? They're not putting anyone down.
And the referee reference.... funny how I was at a bar which contained a few Spurs fans and even THEY were commenting on how many fouls were being called against the Pistons and how many fouls were NOT being called against the Spurs.
And it's so classy for a player to reach out and grab someone's face mask that is SAVING THEIR career and life. Where was the foul called on that one? And I'm not talking about the one time where they had to stop the game so they could fix his mask. There were a few other times that player/s took cheap shots at Rip's mask.
But to end this on a good note... wtf Ginobili? He's one crazy bballer. I had to laugh when I saw that banner that said "Obe won Ginobili".

go spurs go!!
every team has crazy fans and normal fans.
every team has diva players and humble players.
but every team is chock-full of incredible athletic ability, just some more than others.
that's the drama that makes sports so entertaining. why else would everyone be so intrigued with ricky williams? amazing athletic ability + crazy dramatic personal life.
makes for good tv, newspaper articles, radio call-in shows, etc.
go spurs go.

One team. One goal.
Mission Accomplished.
Y'all be proud of me, I went downtown to the Alamodome for the Championship Celebration and honked my way down Commerce afterwards.
