Was this Camp Sunnyside? I read a few books out of that series but I don't remember them at all.
This thread -- soooo many memories.

SLOW DOWN!
Ok, can someone PLEASE give me a run down of what happened about the time Dawn went back to CA? I'm so lost with that and the Forever friends thing. If I had the money, I'd go get the ones I haven't read. They don't have them in my county Libraries. anymore.
And Fear Street was like that too. I read the Super Chillers. There was this one where the girl was about to put on lipstick that had a needle in it to tear up her lip. Then there was another one where I learned about the bubble in the vein thing and how that can kill you. I remember becoming extra anal when I helped my grandmother do her insulin shots.
And lets not forget Christopher Pike. I LOVED the one where the girl was a cyborg from the future who almost hooked up with her grandfather.

Yes, I had those books too. It was Ten Kids, No Pets and then later she wrote another about the family called Eleven Kids, One Summer, or something like that.
|
I also read a non BSC Ann Martin book called Yours Truly, Shirley where the family adopts a little Vietnamese girl. Later, Ms. Martin used this storyline in the BSC when the Brewers adopted Emily Michelle.

boys will never understand
This is hands down my favorite GC thread EVER!!
I remember how popular Goosebumps were and how I thought they were actually really scary. There were soo soo many of those books!!
I also had a few "Pets Inc" books, which was like a babysitters club fo Pets. They even had the officers written on the back.
About the babysitters club song...If you had asked me if I had ever seen the show, I would have said no..but reading the lyrics, I found myself singing along in tune haha. Apparently I watched them and didnt remember! (Or I just know it instinctively from being such an avid fan of the books...who knows)

Bumping because I stumbled across this article, written by a 30-something reflecting on her SVH love-affair. I feel like I could have written it myself:
The Training Bras of Literature
And here's a laugh-until-you-cry look back at SVH, written by another sentimental 30-something:
Slam Book Fever!

wasn't slam book fever the one where people wrote sh*t about each other in the slam books and then Jessica got a taste of her own medicine in the end when people wrote trash about her? or was it elizabeth?
did anyone else think that SVH series SUCKED! COMPLETELY not as I imagined the books, PLUS the episodes were short and supposed to be comic. SVH was a bunch of DRAMA! Although I think they nailed Lila completely.

I read both BSC and BSC's littler sister books, and had the board game and the dolls. I always had at least one of the books with me!
I also read: Sweet Valley Kids, Twin, and High, along with the Unicorn Club. I just couldn't get into SVU though.

In fact, I just bid on books 1-4 of the BSC on eBay. Does anyone remember the theme song to the BSC? Didn't it go something like "Say hello to your friends. . .the Baby Sitters Club. . .say hello to the people who care". Maybe it's just me but I can't get that song out of my head.
|
I totally forgot about The Sleepover Friends until I saw this! OMG those books were great!
