Yes, Cedric Diggory does die in book 4. During the Triwaizard Tournament.

I am sure Cedric will get proper honors in the 4th movie. He has to. He's technically the true Triwizard rep for Hogwarts (Harry was a fluke from "Mad Eye" Moody.)
It will be nice (hopefully) to see other houses involved in the movies, rather than the Gryffindor/Slytherin show...

I think Cedric should have been introduced to us in the 3rd movie. That way, when he dies in the 4th, those who haven't read the books would feel it more. I know he didn't play a huge role in book 3, but still... The part during the quidditch match when the dementors come and Harry falls off his broom, and it is said later that the other team won because Cedric caught the Snitch before he realized what had happened and how he tried to get them to replay it... well that says a lot about his character. But if I remember correctly, he does have his noble moments in book 4, so perhaps non-readers will still get to know him as a nice guy.

I LOVED THE MOVIE! The pacing was better. I loved how the director got to the heart of the story. Columbus is too literal in his interpretation of the books. With the exception of excluding the origin of the Marauder's Map, I was very pleased!!

Like many of you, I liked the movie, but felt that too much was left out - especially the explanation of Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs.
I did appreciate some of the little scenes and details that I'm fairly certain weren't in the book - Draco's nasty little cartoon of Harry, Hermione punching Draco , the lollipop "floating" through Hogsmeade, etc. As Harry is running away from the Dursleys' at the start of the movie, note that Aunt Marge can be seen floating around in the background and screaming.
I'm going to be very interested to see what they do with GoF.
ETA: Someone really ought to clue Harry in that an Invisibility Cloak isn't much good if you're walking around outside when there's snow on the ground.

re: Cedric
yea the only thing that we got in PoA of Cedric was his arm
If they do, do the portkey scene at the world cup in GoF that's where they will explain it.
I did like how they used the whomping willow scenes for seasonal changes....that was kinda cool

You people who say that Cedric's arm was in the movie -- how do you know it was Cedric specifically? Where is it in the movie? I didn't notice.
Going to see the movie again tonight!

Actually I believed she slapped him in the book. In the movie she decked him (which I thought was better...I was like YOU GO GIRL!)

I think we"re maybe *guessing* it's supposed to be Cedric based upon him being the Seeker for Hufflepuff's Quidditch team, and you see Harry and the Hufflepuff seeker going after the Snitch, and then the Hufflepuff seeker kind of disappears while Harry goes farther and farther after the snitch which means he gets closer and closer to the Dementors. Did all that make any sense?

Don't feel dumb....I don't think I made the connection while I was watching the movie, just when I came back and rethought about the movie and the book.

Unfortunately, if you didn't read the book, this scene/explanation probably wouldn't make much sense. (I wonder if my friend got confused...)
Even though they didn't mention it *was* Cedric, I just sort of assumed. Maybe that was the intention.

I think for those that have read the book we all assume that it was Cedric, for that that didn't I think it's just another person. This movie didn't have Cedric in it, however, I think they need to go further in depth in GoF because he's an important character and I think those who haven't read the book are going to need the background info on him.

co-sign. It only would have take an extra minute for Lupin to explain that.
