According to the panhellenic delegate from my chapter, panhellenic voted and the board had a split decision between 2 orgs. Subsequently, it's going to come down to the administration as to which org will colonize at Elon next year. And, it's not Dean Nelson who has to approve, it's Dean Jackson.

i really am sorry for the confusion, here are copies of the emails i got, (i changed the org ltrs) and edited out some personal info. that would only bore people...but you can understand why i believed that they had made one.
...ANYWAY, NEWS FROM THE ELON FRONT, PANHEL CHOSE WHO THEY WANTED TO COME COLONIZE, jrb. APPARENTLY THE VOTE WAS SPLIT BETWEEN TOW, AND DEAN NELSON HAS TO DECIDE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT BUT HE'S AWAY. THE WHOLE THING IS A HUGE MESS 'CUZ THEY WAITED SO LONG TO GET THESE PRESENTATIONS DONE AND OF COURSE SCHOOL WAITED TILL THE WORSE TIME BETWEEN EXAMS COMING UP AND GRADUATION AND ALL THE BANQUETS AND SENIOR ROASTS, IT'S JUST ONE MORE THING TO HAVE TO GET DONE BEFORE EVERYONE HEADS HOME. I STILL AM UP IN THE AIR WITH BRINGING ANOTHER GROUP BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE MADE QOUTA LAST YEAR, BUT THEN AGAIN QOUTA SHOULD NEVER BE AS HIGH AS IT WAS. MAYBE THIS WILL HELP....XI LOVE & ALL MINE, BECK
....so i talked to my lil' and she said that the sororities decided on jrb, obviously not the one i wanted but, whatever. It's the politics of the Greek-Life Mafia as usual. They are extending the invite to jrb either today or tomorow and then they have to vote on it or something and it has to be approved by the trustees, but rumore has it that one of the trustess is a jrb anyway. Not to bring up rumors, but Kristin was telling me all the gossip thats going around about jrb, its so funny and rediculos. I am so glad I am out of that place. The drama!....Miss you and talk to you soon, Mar
just wanted to add, that both emails were talking about the same sorority

i used "JRB" because I didn't want to reveal the actual org that they were both talking about.

From what I've heard, there have been no negative rumors about ANY of the orgs. They all had great presentations. I have heard that it is down to two, and Dean JACKSON will have the final say when he comes back, just to reiterate. Let's just stop all the negative speculation and think positively while we wait I know we're all excited about this, let's just keep the claws in.

It is exciting. I just found out one of my sisters is an advisor for the Duke Chapter.
Also- Elon is adding a law school in a year or two.

I heard that was only in the discussion stage, and even if that it was really just a rumor. Is this for certain now?

Yes, we are getting a law school. It's going to be in Greensboro, though, about 20 minutes from main campus. As long as they get enough $, the school should be up and running within a few years

Bruin Aphi- For someone in CA, you are on top of everything!!!!
I am glad they are adding another law school. There are only two in that part of our state. Having applied to law school, NC needs more options.

My office manager and I were talking about this today after I saw that link. She is trying to start law school as well, and the closest school to Charlotte is USC (for her to commute every day - that's a hellacious drive!). She does not have the freedom to "up and move" as I can. Obviously her choices for law school are rather limited. She was quite surprised to see in the article that Elon's law school would be located in Greensboro - she feels (and I tend to agree) that there are already so many schools (okay, all the law schools in NC) that are w/in driving distance of Greensboro, that it's really unnecessary, and the next law school that opens in NC should open in Charlotte.
As I said, the last we had heard was that Elon's law school was just a rumor, and it was only about as far along as the plans for a possible law school through Queens or UNC-Charlotte. But congratulations to Elon if it goes through!
