Are you serious? You and your org. are ready to hurt someone over a shirt? I would be mad and ready to say some kind or mean words (depending on their attitude), but hurting someone? Please tell me I have the wrong idea about what you mean. *Hold on* you only want to beat him down because he is trying to make money, right? If so I do the same, but not for wearing my letters.

I can imagine the look on my mother's face when I tell her I'm in jail for beating someone up for wearing a Zeta shirt. Ummm NO!

Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!
Co-sign with Soror LI and TheEpitome1920! I'm in a sorority, not a gang. You can talk to/educate a person, but putting your hands on them is assault. Besides, I live in Los Angeles. It's just not a good idea. I LOVE MY AKA, but I also like living.
The funny thing is, I just had this convo with a friend about 2 hours ago. We were on our way to the mall and she wanted to get her jacket from her car, but I had already passed her car. She goes, that's ok, I'll just wear your jacket. She reaches and picks up my chapter jacket. I gave her a look (which she misconstrued, my look was actually, is there a jacket back there?) She like, oh. it's an AKA jacket. Then she continues, but what if I was near death. I said, but you're not.
Here's my stance: IF you are not soror, you should not wear AKA stuff. However, if I'm with my mom and it starts raining, she's going to be underneath my AKA umbrella.

Now what about "promotional" t-shirts... (i.e. The AKA Ice Cream Social) I know I don't know about any D-9 orgs having t-shirts made up for most events unless it's an ongoing program, like a deb cotillion or AlphaBets or something like that, and even then it's for kids and teens. I know I didn't carry my debutante bag or wear my t-shirt anywhere even when I was in high school unless it was a deb event, and I *KNOW* I wouldn't wear it now! (it was a jabberwock ) Really, I'm not accustomed to seeing that kind of thing across the NPHC in general. Discuss.

Yup...
My letters mean so much to me. But the ideals that my founders set out for us also mean so much to me. I cannot IMAGINE anyone beating someone else up over a shirt. Some people need some anger management training... it's just a shirt. I would guess that 99% of people out there wearing these shirts are not "perps"- either they just don't know, or they are poor/homeless. I just think it's completely rude to stroll up to someone you DON'T know and question them about what they're wearing.

It's only as rude as you make it. There are always diplomatic ways to go about things.

Just curious, how would you go about "diplomatically" asking a homeless person to remove the only shirt they might have? Unless you were going to offer them another shirt to wear, I don't think that's a very appropriate way of dealing with the situation.
