Or better when JJ, tried to marry the coke head (Debbie Allan), but she fled out the baffroom window of the no'tell Motel cause she didn't have her stash.
Was James around when Ebay was in the picture??? He may have been on the alaskan pipeline by then.

Yes, I love me some Good Times also! I got some of the greatest epd on DVD, but I sure wish I had that TV one someone mentioned. I loved the way JJ used to always call Michael...Miguel, that was hilarious. I remeber the episode when Michael got addicted to talking on the Two-way radio to some girl.

I LOVE Good Times....I watch it every night at 11pm before I go to bed!! I cannot wait until July 23, I will be glued to TV land the entire weekend!!!!
Favorite episodes:
1. Thelma's Wedding (w/ Michael singing You and I)
2. The final show where everyone gets out of the Ghetto
3. The episode where everyone thought the neighbor had cooked the meatloaf with dogfood (Hilarious!!)
4. When Wilona is trying to adopt Penny and Bookman makes the Social Worker think he and Wilona are married
5. When Thelma gets the scholarship to private school and a white girl shows up to recruit thelma as part of their sorority, because the other sorority already has the other minority
6. When they try to buy the house and everyone chips in all their money but it falls through
7. When Michael decides he's moving out to live with a white, female roommate and her parent visit
8. Almost any episode with Sweet Daddy Williams in it
9. The initial episode (On DVD season 1) where they are about to be evicted and JJ, Thelma, and Michael concoct a scheme to get money with Thelma fainting saying she hasn't eaten in "t-h-reeee whole days"

No... I think he died by that episode. Thelma met Ebay in college (remember she got kicked out for smart-mouthing one of the staff members during a riot?).
I wonder how TV Land will compete with the episodes playing on TV One? One thing I dislike about TV One is I can rarely see what the episode is about. The description always says "Florida Evans raises her family in a Chicago apartment building". They used to show a description, but when they stopped, it messed up my TiVo recording and I had to delete my Season Pass and get another.

That's right thank you, that was gonna be my next question....how did they meet.
I feel you on that because it suggests that Florida is a single parent and she becomes a single parent but the kids are practically grown by that point.

Wow. I've been wondering about that for years. I love it when mysteries are solved.

I had my television on at 5:59 this morning watching and waiting and have been laughing ever since and my FAVORITE three words are about to be said....."Daaaaaaammmmm Daaaaammmm Daaaaammmmmmmmm!" Now looking back on it, James was pretty funny and I am really digging Wilona's outfits and Thelma's platforms.

She just did it!
I always get emotional when that part comes on... she was trying to be so strong.... dang.... James died.
Sidenote: I read that James... uh... I mean John Amos... said that they fired him over the phone for being too controversial.
Here's a pic at Ester Role's wake:

She was trying to hold it up, I'm the same way, when someone close to me dies I don't like people hugging me like that either because I don't like breaking down in front of people.
I'm glad you posted that pic...........wow, they pretty much all look the same. Thelma doesn't look like she did anything but dyed her hair, she still looks exactly the same as she did on the show.
James was too "controversal"........PAAAALEASE! They wanted to make that show fatherless from the very beginning, but Florida/Esther Rolle wasn't having it and threatened not to do the show unless there was a father in the house. If that were the case the militant midget was the controversal one........LOL.

I liked James... to an extent. Sometimes when I watch the show, I listen to James and how he speaks to Florida and the children at times and shake my head. Then again, being that I grew up in another time and place, maybe that was the norm. I know that it's TV and all that, but James was a little too hostile at times.
Michael, on the other hand, ALWASY had an issue. He was always into something: not believing in God, living with the white girl, beating down fat kids on the bus, bringing home homeless men, etc. That boy had an issue every day.
Why is it that when the topic of whippings ever came up, Thelma would always talk about it, but we never really saw James take her in the room? We know that Michael, and especially JJ, got whippings, but Thelma's fast tail never seemed to be in trouble.

Wow.. you can really see the quality of the show with James and without James.... better quality with James. The show was really edgy with him... that episode when James confronted mad dog for shooting JJ was especially touching because it (ina way) showed why young men need fathers(or male role models)
BTW... am I the only one thinking that when some one got slapped/hit on Good Time it was REAL... (ie when Mad Dog's mama slapped him, Willona Punched Ray...) currently waiting on the episode where Keith slapped Thelma and in the end she slaps the HELL out of him
