I believe that the breast baring was not intentional and that both Janet and Justin seemed really sorry. Why do I have the feeling that if Britney did that, it would have been all over by now? The media would just laugh it off and write Britney off as being young and showing off. It's not like Janet stripped down to her G-string or just got completely naked. There are more important things going on right now than Janet's ta-ta!!

Question:

How is Janet's boob any different than when Lil Kim's boob was shown a few years ago on MTV Video Awards?

MTV vs CBS. You expect that from MTV. People were shocked about Lil Kim but not AS shocked because it was MTV

MTV and CBS are BOTH owned by Viacom. Soooo what's the dealy-o?

I think folks have blown this out of proportion, for the sake of hype. When the ratings for the Grammys DROP AGAIN and the Superbowl drop, you'll see POPular performers re-emerge.

I think you are right. This was one of the FEW really exciting super bowl games. People have been watching it only because of the commercials and half-time. And the network is capitalizing on that. I'll bet that what they are really doing behind close doors is wondereing how they'll be able to top it (no pun intended) next year.

The main difference is that MTV is cablecast TV and a person must pay for it. CBS is broadcast TV and free to anyone who has a television. The FCC rules are different.

halftime concerts *boooooooo*

My thing is, "WHY HAVE A HALFTIME CONCERT N-E-WAY?" I watched 18-20 weeks of football WITHOUT the sucky halftime concert. Just go back to Terry, James, Jimmie and Howie like you do every other week for halftime analysis..... maybe give us a sneak peak into the locker rooms to listen to the halftime adjustments each coach makes.... then, BACK TO FOOTBALL IN THE 2ND HALF...

Just a suggestion... instead of watching Justin make a 'HALFTIME ADJUSTMENT' on Janet.

Its so sad because I dont think we see that this mentality is as much a part of the problem as the actions of the media moguls. **SMH**
Thanks for speaking up, even when you know your audience doesn't want to face the truth. Society swims deeper in the toilet, but when one has the nerve to stem the tide, they are chastised. As I watched the Super Bowl, I was embarrassed for those who watched it with children. Why should you be forced to explain to a 7yr old girl what a four hr erection is.? Why so many scatalogical commercials? Why choose half-time entertainment with suggestive lyrics and inappropriate performances? 60% of American tv sets were tuned to the game. Of course families with children are part of that audience. I don't want Lawrence Welk, but why cursing, desecrating flags, bumping and grinding and nudity? MTV and BET (Viacom) is getting rich while taking our youth culture to hell and all we can do is deflect responsibility by saying "there are worse things". Thats what the cultural degradists want to hear. Since there are no standards, anything goes, because we have all been so jaded that we have seen worse.

MTV was a bad choice of producers and I'm sure that the NFL exec that signed off on that is out of a job.

I don't think anyone is not facing the truth, I just think some people are looking at the bigger picture. I agree with you in being sick of the filth on television (movies, music, etc.), but I think we need to fight some of the other things that are more commonplace in our children's lives, like the violent, sexually explicit video games that many of us allow our children to play, or the music videos they watch, for example. I think that those video games, or music videos, or sexually explicit billboards, etc., etc., have a more lasting impact than Janet's performance. I'm not saying to accept the filth; I'm just think we should fight the bigger fights. Like you stated above, it was all in bad taste, I agree with you. What I don't agree with is pinpointing Janet, when basically, all of it and a lot more we deal with on a daily basis is disgusting.

This was my first time ever watching the Super Bowl for obvious reasons and I really enjoyed the game. I talked to a friend of mine who said in all of her years of watching it, this was actually a very exciting game that could have gone either way at a couple of times during the game. Sadly everyone is talking about the show and not the game.

Oh and when I asked about Lil Kim vs. Janet, I was being facetious again.

I believe the FCC has let a lot of things go in recent years in terms of language and what is seen and not seen on TV. I remember the first time I heard B **** on TV (was watching 90210) and I thought my ears were playing tricks on me. It was only a matter of time before a breast was shown. Not that I condone the breast, but . . .

I really believe that it was a publicity stunt for Janet on many levels. Her name is not as out there as Beyonce's. Sad that she felt that she had to lower herself in THIS way to get her name mentioned on TV, the Internet, message boards, etc. etc. etc. 100000000 times a day, but such is life.

I blame R. Kelly, lol.

Has the NAACP said anything about this yet?
