It's all fine and good that you do not like the entire sorority based upon your interactions with the members of DST on your campus. That's fine. Go with that. Let that hate consume you. But my God, get a life and stop coming on GC just to say you hate us. I hate the KKK but I do not go to www.kkk.com and say Black power every day. I cannot change them.
Oh and I still stand by this: TELL THE DELTAS AT YOUR SCHOOL FACE TO FACE that you do not like them. That is what a REAL SOLDIER would do.
If your man and his boys, his bruhs don't want my sorors, that's all to the good but it sounds like his girlfriend is still worried. Cuz if you weren't, my sorority and my sorors and their actions would not phase you in the slightest bit.

Correct me if I'm wrong SisterGreeks, but I thought that this question was already answered. 2pretty4u, many have said that they have no problem with someone coming up to them with congratulations or questions. There is just a time and place for everything.

Yes the question was answered but this woman has an intense hatred of anything related to Delta Sigma Theta and has tunnel vision when it comes to DST.

Are you serious? They DID answer your"question". It's just the answer YOU didn't/don't want to hear.

You are correct and others have agreed with you. (had you bothered to read the responses you would know that)

That's funny. If we didn't think so much of ourselves, people would say we have self esteem issues.. And if that were really the case, no one would have even bothered to answer your question. I'm surprised this post didn't get deleted in the first place.

Okay, I've been reading this thread and I have to ask, why are you so angry?
You seem to hate the fine ladies of DST, which is fine, because I don't see them getting to bent out of shape over you hatred, but wouldn't your life be better if you just ignored them?

um...excuse me Ninjapoodle or whatever, I wasn't even talking to you. I was really talking to the D's. So go and do something good for Sigma Gamma Rho so yall can be known a little bit better besides Sigma Gamma WHO? And to Lady Phi, I don't have any hatred towards Deltas. It just that the original poster made herself seem so stuck up because someone was speaking to her. People act like if you speak, you have a problem, if you don't speak, you have a problem. It's a no win situation. And how can someone get to the conclusion that you want to be their best friend or even WANT to be a Delta because you do speak or say congratulations. It's stupid!

As a sisterfriend reread your posts, You DO have a serious chip on your shoulders-which is obviously affecting your ability to read. The original poster (& no one that has posted) has a problem with people congratulating them or saying hello. The problem is people who disrespect or come out of their face to members.
Given a choice what do you say to a new member that you previously have never spoken to before? Is it:
a-Congratulations ______!
b-Congrats ____! I'm so glad that someone in my dorm has pledged-now you can vote for me since your sister hates me for taking her man!
c-Girl-when is the next rush? I can't wait to be on the next line and teach ya'll some new steps.
Do you see the difference??
If you can't in your case, just don't speak!

Great advice, Ladygreek.

First, lemme address the topic at hand:
My biggest issues was when I wore my letters, I had all kinds of folk approaching me, saying that they were an Alpha Phi Omega, but didn't even know the most basic of info.
Prime example (true story), some black woman, who was either low income or homeless would sell Little Debbies snack cakes individually (the ones you would find in a 10-12 pack) at the corner of Broad and High (the heart of downtown Columbus) to get some change. Anyhow, she would approach me on the COTA bus and would proclaim to be my brother trying to BS her way into having me give her some change. But the only info she knew was that she went to Ohio State. Couldn't even tell me when she joined, she would just say she pledged at OSU. Needless to say, she didn't get a cent from me.
|
Something like that happened to me and my lb's. We were at a Service Project a Walk As One March to erase racism and bigotry. A man approached me and said hi I pledged Alpha Phi Omega in College. My lb pulled him close for the grip but he didn't grip nor did he say anything to let us know he was really frat. We were looking around at each other and I asked him when he pledged? He said around the early 80's (keep in mind we were being born around this time). I asked him where and he said U.T. Martin. I said Chi Zeta and he was like ummmmmm yeah. Then he went on to ask that's the Music thing right? I was like OMG...we just walked off. How the hell do you forget your chapter, what year you pledged, and what the frat's principles are???
Sorry had to vent...back to your post now.

Small Issue...
I am a member of a service fraternity. I have a few friends who are Delta's. One day, my friend said they had a service project that day. I saw a few Delta's that night, one of which I am cool with. I was like hey girl how was y'all project. She said they didn't have one that day...I was like oh ok. I mean not that I really cared like that, I was just confused cuz my friend had mentioned that they had one. As I left the room, I heard one of her ls's call out from the bathroom stall, "WHO IS THAT ASKING ABOUT DELTA" . I started to walk back in there but I didn't want to start anything. It kind of ticked me off though. I'm not interested in Delta like that. I pledged what I wanted to pledge. I'm very much interested in things dealing with my culture and my (African-American) history; therefore fraternities and sororities intrest me. I can spit a little bit about all the D9 and other orgs in the Black community (Mason, OES, Jack and Jill, etc. ) I know that the Ladies of DST do wonderful things and I commend them for that; however, I wasn't and I'm not trying to be down. That kind of hurt my feelings though cuz I couldn't help but wonder, why do you have to make such an assumption? You have never seen me at any of your functions...come on now. And furtermore, I have noticed that she looks at me funny when I see her. I was training (strolling) with my frat the other day and she was really giving me the Aunt Ester eye (ole fish eye'd fool!!!) Would I be wrong to approach her? I don't wanna start up any drama, but I don't want her eyeing me either. I would appreciate any advice.

for attractive....
Maybe she gave you a weird look because maybe you weren't supposed to know about the project.....it could be your freind didn't practice discretion.....who knows However, I would suggested that you nicely, and kindly pull her to the side and talk to her and ask her what's up...if yall are cool like that...and then explain to her that your interest lie elsewhere and that you would like to continue to be friends and that you will support future events of hers as well as you would like her to support yours....good luck!

I'm assuming that was through the NCCJ. If so, YAY!!!
Second, I've said it before, but I can't stand when people look at my lovely QNX and say, "One? What does that mean?" Then, I think to myself, "When did you see an 'E' that looked like that and, hey, there's a line through the 'O'." Oh well, I can't poorly represent my sorority, so I do my best to tell people about it...cordially!!
And, I know this is really mean and kinda off topic, but if one more sticky handed rugrat puts his/her hand on my jacket ONE MORE TIME...

Well, to play Devil's Advocate, it does kind of look like one. Some people just don't know, especially non-Greeks who haven't research the Greek alphabet. If you aren't familiar or are just glancing without paying much attention, the letters can be deceptive to the eyes. Also, in your signature, it says "1997, the year seven became...." Some people may just read it the wrong way.
