Oh my goodness that was a good episode! Meena shows no interest in the the sorority, and she does deserve to get dropped. I don't know how it's going to work after seeing all of her line sisters crying and stuff. I heard the pretty girl (I can never think of her name) say that this isn't what sisterhood is about, BUT how is Meena being sisterly?! You gotta think!

I love Val's character. She's not too chipper and not too mean. She's about business and I love that. Michelle is like totally clueless!

Can't wait for next week's show!

Michelle had me when she showed up late to pick up Val. I was on the phone and saw the thing on the screen "Michelle is over an hour late picking up Val". so I didnt hear what she said, per se, but the look on Val's face was enough. Classic. WHAT is Michelle's problem? What the f is so hard about sharing?

Meena, uh, no comment. I want to see what happens.
PS: none of her behavior would pass in one of the Fab Four, sorry. Someone would have chewed her up and spit out the pieces.. lol

Why is she pledging when she knows that she will be attending NYU the following semester???
1)The dance group they showed her with, there seemed to be at least 15 young women there. If she (Meena) had missed the performance, it wouldnt be like they(the dance group) would miss her.

2)Why would the sorority pledge a last semester student??

B.c its like she said in the first episode. She had friends who pledged black sororities in their senior year and it didnt seem like they had any issues with pledging a senior..

Angry

So yeah, Meena has to go. I just didn't appreciate how she was putting pledging on the back burner. And she's leaving ANYWAY to NYU...what was her point?? She didn't attend ANY of the sorority's events, she was always off to go do something else, was completely clueless about her Big Sisters (now if your Big Sister doesn't really feel you, trust that is a problem), etc. She needed to be dropped. Even if she wasn't going to another school, she would have ended up a t-shirt wearer through and through.

Again, I LOVE VAL. She is handlin' these girls. Love how she shut Michelle down and Michelle was STILL asking Val if she wanted to go out... WTH?? I don't think she's gonna make it. If she wants to continue she has a lot of growing up to do.

Right, right I remember that but why did/would the SORORITY pledge her knowing that she is a last semester SR.? Sounds kinda SHADY to me!

That is the thing that doesn't add up to me. It is not like she could be around to contribute to the chapter after she crosses, so what's the point?

Exactly. This group is local. They don't have a chapter anywhere else. It's not as though she is joining Xi Rho Chapter of SGRho @ UC Riverside then graduate, move to New York and hook up with our Kappa Sigma Grad chapter. There's no continuation. It's just a one time thing--"Join in college and that's it" attitude (that's what I get from this so far)

Even with the "join in college and that's it" mentality, how much longer would she even be an undergraduate student? A month? Two or three weeks? I have seen instances where graduating seniors have joined NPHC orgs, but there were usually circumstances involved(chapter just coming off of suspension, etc.). I don't know too many BGLO chapters that would be okay with someone coming in if they knew up front that they would be leaving town immediately afterwards. Even though that person could easily transfer into a graduate chapter elsewhere, we all know that does not always happen regardless of what year the person was initiated.

Do the potential "pledges" know about their org. of choice being selected for the show prior to Rush? I mean, if they know that XYZ is going to be on TV, I am sure that would encourage people like Meena to give herself and her various dance groups free airtime and advertisement. But, if they find out after expressing interest and participlating in various other events, that would give the org. and indication of who may be serious about their pursuit.

It's funny that you mention that RedefinedDiva,

It was said that the sorority put MTV all over thier rush flyers, so all ladies attending their rush were WELL AWARE of the cameras and hype of MTV. If you look at the previews for the next episode, the alumnus/founder that speaks to Ms. Meena tells her that to the ladies of the sorority it looked as if Meena was only their for the cameras and MTV!

Wonder what Meena has to say to that !

I know. That's why I don't understand why she was still hanging around the pledge house (or even pledgin period for that matter - I don't think there are other chapters of this sorority anywhere, so it's not like she could transfer to a chapter out east).

I dunno. It still confirms my first thought that she was just there for "air time".
