(I had the same problem with a roommate, and tried talking to her; when that didnt work, I just made sure that people knew which side was hers and which was mine. Embarrassment works too.. lol )

she said she knew he has limited abilities?
she asked if he could be transferred to ANOTHER class because I have HIGH expectations?
she is an educator?
not a teacher, but on "next" tier, if you will?
