Bump to bring this back to life
Movies I've seen:
Master&Commander...exceptionally great flick, great character development, great camera shots defintiely 4 stars plus no stupid love stories that ruined Pearl Harbor and other good movies.
Timeline...pretty good...wasn't exactly what I was expecting (I didn't read the book) and too many cheesy parts.I would say 2.5 stars
Bad Santa....good, I wasn't expecting much so it defintiely lived up to the expectations. This one is a good matinee movie, kind of vulgar...2 stars
The Last Samurai...before you call B.S. I saw it in Birmingham at a sneak preview....It was the best movie I've seen all year. It makes you feel for the character and helps you understand what he is going through, fantastic camera work, especially the battle scenes...some people probably will think it is too long, but it takes time to make you care for the character and have great battle scenes.
I'm still waiting on Return of the King to come out on December 17th

I saw Cold Mountain tonight. It was very good. Great acting from Nicole Kidman, Jude Law, and Renee Z. All 3 and the movie itself deserve Oscar nominations. It makes me want to read the book now.

I think it's been out for a while in the US, but I just saw "Love Actually" and thought it was the cutest thing ever!!! Loved it!

I wasn't a big fan of the book.
I didn't think it was very true to the life of the North Carolina mountains. But, then again, I'm the only person I know who didn't like it.
I refuse to see the movie because they filmed "the North Carolina mountains" in Transylvania somewhere. NORTH CAROLINA DOES NOT HAVE SNOW-CAPPED PEAKS, PEOPLE!!

There was a great cover pic of him & Billy Bob Thornton in full makeup on the cover of Texas Monthly this month. I'm looking forward to this one, definitely...even though alot of Texans are going to be extremely critical of it.
Am I the only one looking forward to "Cheaper By The Dozen?" Its fluffy, for sure, but I love Steve Martin in just about anything.

Really? I read (and liked) the book, but the movie looked terrible to me. It looked like it didn't really follow the plot of the book much, and appeared melodramatic.
Then again, preview seem to really not be a good judge of a movie's actual character.

Is "Cheaper By the Dozen" just a remake of the old movie of the same name?

Technically...there was a 1950 movie version, but both are based on the book by Frank B. Gilberth Jr. and Ernstine Gilberth Carey (based on their family). (We did the play when I was in HS)

Mr. honeychile & I saw "Love Actually" last weekend, and he's willing to see "Mona Lisa Smile" this weekend.
Since I go to the movies to relax and not discover world peace or a cure for cancer, I really enjoyed "Love Actually". There was one plot sequence I would have left out, but other than that, it was a cute movie.

honeychile - The plotline about Colin who goes to America, or about the porno actors? It's got to be one of those two.
My favorite story in Love Actually was Keira Knightley's..."To me, you are perfect." Aaaahhhh cuteness!!! I am eagerly anticipating the dvd. I love that movie.

Cold Mountain
I saw Cold Mountain last weekend, and although I thought that Renee Z. and Nichole were outstanding in this, I wan't impressed with the movie. It was really sentimental and very moving, but it was the typical love story. I thought that it was also pretty graphic with the war scenes, and I know that its realistic, but its a little bit too gorey for my taste. I want to see Mona Lisa SMile. Sounds like a chick flick that I would love!

I heard somewhere that the porn actors' storyline was cut in the Asian release because it was seen as "inappropriate". As for Colin's plotline...WEIRD......

Actually, it's a toss up! I think they both cluttered the movie.
Yes, "You are perfect" was WONDERFUL!!!
Has anyone else seen Mona Lisa Smile? We left somewhat, confused. There wasn't a sense of impowerment, or good conquering evil, or any definite emotion by the ending. I'd like to see it again, just to re-think it - when it goes to the cheap theatres!!
