Now, I am the QUEEN of purposely messing up lyrics and replacing them with ones I like better, one of my favorites is Michael Jackson's "Beat It"

"Beat it, just beat it.... ain't your momma orthopedic?"

I think the most recent song that jacked me up was Musiq's song "Mary" (I think that's what it's called). Anyway, it took me FOREVER to figure out what he was spelling! I went around just tossing out random letters like "M-A-B-T-H-O-W-E-A-E-B-E-Y-O-U-T-E..."

I finally placed it like 8 times in a row and realized he was spelling out "M-a-r-y, H-o-w c-o-u-l-d y-o-u b-e s-o c-r-u-e-l t-o m-e m-y l-o-v-e."

I was too through!

Oh my goodness!!!!!! I am actually sitting here listening to that song right now!!!!!

Now what in the hell is a unit?

and it must be a FL thing, because everytime that song is played people jump off the wall and the floor is packed.

Jay-Z had coined himself J-Hova (Jehova) because it is common up North for males who have established some sort of camaraderie to refer to themselves as 'God' (much the way we here in the South say 'dawg'). i.e. "What's up dawg?" and "What's up God?"

I think it also stems from the fact that Jigga thinks he is the rap god in NY. I beg to differ as there are a plethora of better MC's in NY! But I digress....

The Five Percenters call men Gods and women Earths. A lot of rappers in New York are also five percenters so it ended up in their lyrics and in turn in everyday vocab.

Their teachings are derived from Islam's, but they follow a very non-traditional way of life. They believe that the black man is god, and the black woman is earth. They also believe that the black man was the first human creation, and that the white man was made from the black man. The white man then in turn tricked the black man into slavery. The true basis of their beliefs is called the Supreme Mathematics. Which means that there is the whole population represented by 100%. 85% of the population does not know the truth, 15% know the truth, but 10% uses that truth for purposes of evil and keeping the 85% in the dark. Then there are the 5% that know the truth and tries to teach the 85% of the population.

Some famous 5 percenters: Erykah Badu, AZ(Not anymore), members of Wu-Tang, etc.

You are right with the first line, but the second one is actually:

How can I/ Make love to a fella? (homophobic intent)
In a rush, pass me the keys to my truck.

They are very homophobic in Jamaica and very open about it.

Its not that they are very homophobic. Just that they are really against it. Disagreement doesn't equal fear.

You know that song "So In Love" by Janet Jackson? Well, I used to think that she was saying "oooo...tough enough" when she was saying "oooo...so in love"! I sang it all wrong for a couple of months....

Me, too, y'all. LOL. I can't believe that she is not saying this. Are y'all sure? I can't believe that I was getting down singing a song and didn't know the words. I thought I had it going on with this song.

I have a ? I don't mean to affend but ask for clarification.

There is a part in "Southern Hospitality" where it sounds like Ludacris is saying 'sorors keep stepping' which has always made me wonder if he was Greek. I've heard a few people sing it like this too but I don't think that is what he's saying. I think it is how they edited the song. I looked on the ohhla database and now I can't remember the part of the song it is in. I'll have to get on the fake Napster and come back later.
