Colors
I...understand what you are saying about the colors...but you have to realize...that 'pink and green' are the colors for this year. And it used to be if you were interested in an organization, you didn't wear those colors together...however, it wasn't a 'rule'. At any rate, you may see a lot of people with those colors on. You shouldn't just assume someone is a 'soror' because of that.
That's just my take on it. Our colors are pretty nice ...I've even caught my Delta friends in such (just as they have caught me sporting 'red and white' before.
Now if the shirt had 'AKA' or 'Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.' written across it...it would have been a whooooole different story.
Just my .08 cents...

I am not a member of a BGLO. I think people that perp. are people that are looking for an identity and lack self-esteem. All through college and now, some people automatically think I am in a sorority. It actually bothers me to a point, because I end up explaining myself more often than I should have to. I think as black people some of us tend to feel as though we need to be labeled to feel important. It's sad, but in this world we usually meet up with two types of people. Those that are Fake and those that are Real. I think some parents need to start raising their children to believe that they are who they are not by the outfit that they wear or the freinds that they have, but rather by their character and who they are inside. That's my .95 cents

I just don't understand why anyone would go to such lengths as to perp as a member. Believe me, I've ran into quite a few perps of APO, and Mason. It was not a pretty sight.
Some people go through all these changes, only to find out they really ain't missing out on anything to be honest. (SMH)
As far as colors, I'd think one would have to be quite petty to even THINK about catching an attitude with someone because of the colors they choose to wear. I don't care who you are and what org you belong to..you WILL NOT tell me what colors I can and can not wear.. not on any day that ends in "y." So, I don't even bother when I see folks in colors that are usually identified with my org's...it's senseless unless someone is intentionally trying to be disrespectful, then thats another issue.

something fishy
Well, I don't know if this woman was a perp or not, but here goes.
I was walking down the hall at school (I'm in grad school, no greek chapters here) and this woman noticed me with my SGRho shirt on. When she saw me she said she was a sorhor too. I was really excited to meet her, so I started talking to her. I eventually got around to asking which chapter she was initiated into and she could not remember. I then asked her which school she went to (re: the school would indicate which chapter) and she could not remember her school!!!!. I smiled and ended the conversation quickly. Luckily I did not tell her any Sorority stuff.
This is not an official pratice, but I have a sorhor who immeditaly works into the conversation the question of which chapter/region/etc the person belongs to in order to determine if she is talking to a sorhor or perp. One thing that has been true for every Sigma I've met is that as soon as we have identifed one another as a Sigma, then we greet each other with the official hand shake. My sorhor mom has not been active for years, but she still remembers the hand shake.
With as many meetings/Regionals/Boule's that each org has you should start to run into the same people, or at least meet people who know of other people. And since most people like to walk down memory lane about what happened at past meetings and Boule's, they should know something.

Okay I am a nongreek and had an incident that indirectly affected me.
A friend and I attended a function a couple days ago. She was wearing the colors of abc sorority and had a keychain of their symbol on her keys. For as long as I've known her, she as always like this symbol before we know about sororities. We were talking to a couple people and just kickin' it. Two young ladies apporoached her and asked was she a member of abc? She politely replied no. One of the girls was like well I am and I don't appericate you wearing OUR colors and Our _______ on your keys. She and her friend proceed to become loud and talking about WE GOT A PERP. My friend was outdone. Now my girl didn't get loud or anything but she was mad. I tried to tell the ladies that it's not like that and nobody wanted trouble. The girls tried to get in her face but the guy (whos function it was) and his brother broke that up. While they were across the room talking trash, the guy's sister showed up draped in naila for abc sorority. She had crossed maybe two, three weeks prior. Anyway, the guy informed his sister that some of "sorors" were here and what had happened. She apologized for that (she is super nice) and went over to introduce herself. A couple minutes later, all you heard was : "get your faking a## out of here!" It turns out that the girls who tried to jump bad with my friend were PERPS themselves. My guy's sister is no punk and the girls were outta there faster than a cake in front of a fat kid. I am still mad about that because all that was not call for. That just my opinion and don't mean to offend.
