I agree that Kobe Bryant is a cocky, rude and sometimes, he borders on the insolent. I don't think every player should go to the pros out of high school, but Kobe is an exception.
Still, for all the complaints we make about Kobe, his attitude reminds me a lot of MJ in his early days. Anyone who follows him will know what I mean. Remember when Isaiah dem showed him out for disrespecting the old heads during his first All-Star game? He is a talented player, and he backs up all the trash talking. As for Shaq, you have to give him his props. Go look at Shaq 6 or 7 years ago, and compare that to him today. He has worked at his game, and it pays off. It's not everyday you see a 7-ft, 400-pounder do up-and-down fake out reverse lay-ups.
Though they are Goliaths, they are darn good.
Why is it that I feel that they just weathered the best the Nets could muster up? After Jason Kidd, who is the best player on the Nets?

This was some years ago (the 1980s, I believe), but I remember the Pisacataway Pests slam in a Sporting News column. The writer was basically clowning the Nets for actions in the past such as getting rid of Julius Erving.

I agree about Kobe. He is a good basketball player. I've heard other players as well as old school players say that he is the maturist young player they ever met (as far as it pertains to basket ball). His work ethic and devotion to the game will always make him good. But please stop all of this comparing people to MJ.
Kobe is no where close to MJ. The best out of high school player is TRACY MCGRADY. The only other person that MIGHT be comparible to MJ is Vince Carter!! As far as the second best player behind Jason Kidd is Richard Jefferson or Kenyon Martin. Everybody else just SUCKS!!!!

Kevin Garnett is also a very good out of high school player, although not close to M.J. overall.

I agree, nobody is close to MJ. Wasn't trying to compare the skills. And, since I am a Tarheel, I do believe Vince is the second coming of His Airness.
Tracy Mcgrady? Very, very good. Compared to Kobe? Hmmm... I think Kobe is a better defensive player than Tracy. Tracy talks a good game, is tough, and never shrinks away from challenges. KG is also a bad boy, but he needs to take his team to the next level. Three of them are the best things out of high school.
I think the Nets should shop around for a center, a real good one, who can at least score in the double digits. Kenyon is good, but needs to dominate the forwards. The whole Eastern division needs to get bigger boys in the middle. If the T-wolves and Grizzlies get to switch to the Eastern Conference like they want to, there might be more competition towards the Atlantic.

What?!? T-Mac's defense is much better than Kobe's! Do you remember T-mac Shutting down the "BIG DOG" Glenn Robinson,

Aw, c'mon Dexter! I am not a big Kobe fan, and I do prefer both Vince and Tracy to Kobe, but the stats don't lie. T-Mac shut down Glen Robinson? A man almost twice his age? Who went to the conference finals, though. Big Dog still averaged double figures. How many times has T-Mac made the All-Defensive team? Kobe made firt team last year, and Second this season. And 3-pt shooting does not fully quantify a player. I do give T-Mac props on scoring, but what happens when he isn't the only option? I am sure it would be different with a healthy Grant Hill. As it is, T-Mac is the only scorer, which kind of pads his stats.

You're bruh. You hit the nail on the head. T-mac is the only option. HE, like MJ, can carry a team by themselves. Kobe can't! He can't win long term without Shaq. T-Mac even took them to the playoffs! Just like MJ when he first came into the league. Big Dog isn't sorry. He avarages 23 to 25 points per game and T-Mac held him in the finals to 13!!

The Lakers did sweep the Nets, so they 3-peated!

Last night's game was much closer than I'd like it to be. But once again, it showed how valuable the Big Janitor is, since his effort was very key in sweeping the Nets away.

Now, we have the parade and I hope that Madsen doesn't make an azz of himself, w/the dork dance. The Lakers, however, must think about going over the luxury tax to get another scorer.

Today, the Lakers used Jellybean's kid and the father of Shaquir Rashaun O'Neal for victory. It's not going to be easy, with NO home court, but maybe there will be "quat-row."
