I also did informal, and found out later about all the other houses and then wished I'd done formal. I probably would have gone AGD, what a fun group of people w/ great sisterhood. (I'm an ADPi).
It's really great to read through this and see so many people have respect for my GLO, though. I'm really involved now in my alum group; it's awesome to hear that we have impressed people on a National level. Thanks, ladies!

When I was in 11th and 12th grade, I was all about going ADPi. But when I got to school, I realized that they weren't me. I can't imagine not being a ZTA, but at my school if I really had to pick another one, it would be Tri-Delt. Off campus, I like DZ and AXO. All those girls I have met seem like real sweethearts, and I'm a DZ legacy. If I was a guy, Pi Kappa Phi all the way. Alpha chapter is on our campus, so I have met Pi Kapps from all over who come visit. They are always such gentlemen! Especially the ones from UCF. On our campus, the Pi Kapps are the only ones who treat girls with respect and don't just try to get us drunk and naked! Well, the Sig Epps are nice guys, too.

I would've wanted to be a DZ, but since they already cut me once I assume they would cut me again if my chapter didn't exist, but DZ would still be my preference. But I still think they are really pretty girls, so are my sisters, and they wear the best clothes.

Hehe, I must say that I got hooked on Phi Sig when my dance team captain came down to our HS the year after she graduated... all decked out in Phi Sig gear... telling me about our local mascot (Teddy bear) And the colors, King Blue and Gold... aka YELLOW... and dood, there it was... Yellow, my fav color, and I LOVE TEDDY BEARS! Although Elephants are wonderous too!!

Question

I didn't go through formal rush so I really can't say who i would join. But chapters are so different during formal, so I can judge on what I see. Delta Phi Epsilon seems like a fun group of girls, but I'm not too sure I'd fit in with them. I love Phi Sigma Sigma, and I get along great with those girls, but I still absolutely love my girls and I can't picture myself belonging to a different group.

If the Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter at my University didn't exist then I would just have to join the city chapter or try to start a chapter at my school.

If Delta Kappa Phi had not been on my campus I would have chosen Theta Phi or Kappa Beta Gamma.

Delurking here - thought this was an interesting thread.

When I went through rush there were 4 national sororities and a local at my school. The local didn't participate in formal rush, but held their own rush the following week. (Got their own rho chi and everything!) The nationals were huge (total was 80, quota was usually around 30-32), the local had just gotten started and was very small (7).

I went through 2 rounds of rush before I realized I wasn't really comfortable joining such a big group. As an only child the idea of suddenly having 100+ sisters scared me Plus I thought I'd get lost in such a big group, and not really be able to make a difference to the chapter. So I dropped out to rush the local, joined, and I'm glad I did.

(The local later went national w/ AEPhi - hence the username)

Anyway, if the local hadn't been there, I probably would not have dropped out of rush, and would
-- edited: would probably have joined one of the 2 sororities I went to for 2nd round parties.

I don't know much about the nationals that weren't represented at my school, so I can't speak to that.

I am glad we started up this thread again!!!!
If I weren't an AZD I would have like to have been an AOTT or a Tri-Sig. For the fact that the other two chapters that I didn't mention aren't very unified. While AOTT and Tri-Sig usually are pretty close all the way around and the other two sororities that my chapter gets along with....except for maybe during greek week!
