(Putting on my good employee hat) T- Mobile USA is a company solely owned by a German company called Deutsch Telekom. They are a big cellular and data service provider in Europe. There have never been any interests in merging with AT&T. We were considering a merger with Cingular but decided against it since we were doing so good. We are a great company for business who use wireless data services.
( taking my hat off...) If you live between South Carolina and Maryland... your service wont be the best. We never really had any towers there so we are just now trying to service that area. Other than that it really shouldn't be any problems... we have dead spots like everyone else. I think my biggest issue has been with service inside of house and buildings... but that is alot of cellular companies. As far as the phones themselves....as any CSR will tell you...that one is on the Manufactures...we have to fight with them all the time for them to get their phone straight. But I honestly think we have the best rate plan in the business (definitely said without my employee hat on...)
All in all T-mobile isn't that bad for a start up company...we are fairly new and haven't been around as some of the others.
I have heard a lot of horror stories with Sprint though..
Possibly, you mean in NC and SC. I have T-Mo in VA and have had great coverage in the South Eastern part of the state, where I reside. I have also had a strong signal in Richmond and the DelMarVa area. But, I roam on Cingular as soon as I cross the NC border.

If possible, could you explain the new "Rich Communications" thing? I have unlimited T-Zones WAP w/ 300 SMS a month for $9.99. I hear that might change w/ the new free WAP browsing.

I currently connect to the Wireless NET thru my Tungsten T|3 using my Nokia 3650. If I moved to the new $4.99 plan, will they close my port access?

All GSM services are poorer is bldgs b/c they use the 1900/900/1800 band. the 850 band (that T-Mo USA does not use) is best for bldgs.

I've had AT&T for a year and had no complaints. Great customer service, great phones, great plans. I used Sprint while I was dating my ex, and had a great phone, but crappy customer service (I shouldn't wait more than 7 minutes to talk to someone). He used to call at 1 and 2 in the am just to talk to a person. uh, NO. lol. And they did cut the phone of if you were .0000001 seconds late with your payment.

Rich Communications:
Basically what is happening is that you will have instead of a certain bucket of Megabytes you will have an unlimited amount. If it is more for customer who are only paying $2.99 for WAP access. That’s really the only change. So in your case you would go from paying $9.99 to $4.99.
As far as you losing your port access... there is a possibility that it could happen but I doubt it.
You are correct about the GSM service...but the great thing with it is the service you can receive in foreign countries...GSM is almost a standard for some.

Prayerfull, it sounds to me like you need Sprint. I have had them since 99 and the only problem i've experienced was with an actual phone, not the service / network or customer service. I hear so many complaints about Sprint but i haven't experienced any drama personally so i say give them a try if you like.

I bought my mom a cell phone not to long ago and added her on my plan. We share 500 "daytime minutes", and each get unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited Sprint to Sprint (*It works really great since most of the people i know also have Sprint*), and Sprint vision / wireless web. This runs about 70 something a month, including tax. I really love the nationwide network because I travel a lot so i can usually pick up a signal without roaming. (EXCEPT NEAR 'SKEGEE - DAMMIT). The only exceptions are my office, which is on the basement level of a library, and inside Metro stations. I can't pick up ANYTHING, but in my home and basically everywhere else it's good.

The only thing i could wish for is my night minutes to start at 7PM like the commercials are advertising. That will incur an additional cost for existing customers, so i'm straight with 9:00 nights for the time being. When my contract runs out i WILL look for a new carrier (yeaaa FCC Portability), but only if i can find a plan that offers more than what i'm getting now.

Mr. Prayerfull and I use Cingular and have a combined plan for both of our phones. The bill has been coming in for the last 2 months at around $275.00 each month.

We've got 600 anytime minutes (shared), 5000 nights and weekends (+ the extra to start those at 7pm rather than 9pm), unlimited mobile to mobile, and my NEW FAVORITE.....wireless internet service (thank God Greekchat doesn't have a wireless format, 'cause I'd be even further in the hole).

We need a flat rate plan that includes EVERYTHING - UNLIMITED. This last bill was sky high and I'm trying to figure out what the heck we need to do about this. I wish their customer service people could give me a clue as to which plan may better suit me.

My husband and I both have Verizon Wireless phones. He has an 800 minute plan and I have a 400 minute. We each get 1000 mobile to mobile, unlimited nights and weekends and I have mobile/express web. Our combined bill is about $100/month. Of course, you pay 35/45 cents per minute over your allowance!

I will, but I can't do it until May. I refuse to pay the extra $$ to break out of my contract early.
