Here's why I think the story takes place in Oklahoma.
In post #214, PS states that
* football is big in the state
* we had an "all state homecoming queen." at the beginning of playoffs they gathered all, and i mean all... of the homecoming queens from all over the entire state to select the "all state homecoming queen."
Both true. One of my friends won All State Homecoming Queen our senior year. (If another state has an All State Homecoming Queen, please post.)
Her last post is #290, where she states "she cannot continue" and apologizes to her family. So we may never find out the end of this mystery.
She also posted that SHE was the 1 who went away to college. So, I think the family is from the Tulsa area. I also know someone who was Miss TU, then Miss Oklahoma (Miss America). I'm going to do some ground work when I go back for Homecoming, as TU will also be having an "All Greek Reunion".
And, of course, I may be COMPETELY WRONG about everything!

But if you are wrong, we will never know, will we? And this is the closest we have been up to now. I'm enthralled.

TU is a private university.
It took me 10 years to pay off my private university tuition!

After I posted this, I realized -- wait -- OKlahoma State has five of the six chapters as Tulsa university! The only one not at OSU is DG. And The OSU Theta house is also Tudor style. I may have blown my own theory out of the water.
So calling all cowboys or those familiar with OSU, can you help answer some questions? How many chapters on campus and when/who are the last expansions?

There are 12 chapters at OSU. Phi Mu colonized there in 1979 and AOPi has been there since 2012, I think. Alpha Xi Delta will be re-colonizing in the next few weeks.
Tulsa sounds more like the right fit historically.

Was Tulsa considered an elite school for the wealthy in the 90s? I was wondering @ the HS description also. If the family was from Tulsa, maybe Monte Casino?

The elite school for the wealthy would likely be Cascia Hall.
My only flaws with ChioLu's work is that the OU DG house isn't Georgian. It is lovely and enormous, but wouldn't be described as Georgian. Also, the old ZTA house is Tudor, and may have housed Phi Mu, depending on what year the story occurred.

Forgot about Cascia Hall. Haven't lived in Tulsa for 30+ years, lol.
