Pop star/actress Brandy Norwood got married last June to music producer Robert Smith. Robert happens to be a cousin of Darkchild CEO Rodnie Jerkins. The 23-year-old Brandy, who will turn 24 on February 11, kept the married a secret for seven months. "I've fallen in love with a very warm, gentle, understanding, and focused person," Brandy
Norwood said in a statement through her music company, Atlantic Records. "This summer we married quietly. A new experience, a new day for me—I couldn’t be happier!" Now I ran into Brandy back in January at a listening party in New York ! and she said to me, “I’m mad at you. You announced I was engaged and I didn’t get a chance to announce it myself.” Low and behold, she was married all along. The CoverGirl spokemodel’s new album “Full Moon” will be released on March 5th.
What ya'll think of that?

I don't know WHY SHE'S trying to be all secretive and stuff, it's not like she's Janet jackson. AND HAVE IT GOING ON, and is afraid her album sales may drop because of it. Plus HE may not be a real looker in the first place. WAIT TIL I GET MARRIED!!!!! I'M GONNA BE LIKE, HEY THIS IS MY HUSBAND, YOU SEE THAT MAN OVER THERE.. YEP THAT'S MY MAN, YOU SEE THIS ROCK!!!! IT'S ALL PLATINUM. UMM HMM, WE GOT MARRIED, YESTERDAY.*LOL*..........anyway as if BRANDY GOT BUSINESS TO TELL, SO WHAT SHE'S HAVING SEX NOW; it just confirms that she is finally getting some. IF YOU ASK ME..... she's competing with khobe. No matter what you say she's still a mama's girl.

Brandy's Secret Marriage
by Marcus Errico
Feb 5, 2002, 3:45 PM PT
Brandy has hit upon a unique way to hype her new album: The R&B singer-actress announced Tuesday that she's pulled a Janet Jackson and was married on the sly last year.
"I've fallen in love with a very warm, gentle, understanding and focused person," Brandy says in a statement. "This summer we married quietly. A new experience, a new day for me--I couldn't be happier!"
She and her groom, producer and songwriter Robert Smith (no, not the guy from the Cure), married so quietly that nobody knew anything about it.
But wedding rumors went into overdrive last week, when New York radio stations began reporting the one-named, multihyphenate had gotten hitched. But, like Jackson (who secretly married producer Rene Elizondo Jr. and kept it hidden for nine years until their divorce), Brandy and her reps kept evading the question until Tuesday's announcement.
The timing of Brandy's bombshell just happens (wink, wink) to coincide with the release of her forthcoming album, Full Moon. She just happens to be currently making the rounds promoting the disc, which is due out March 5, and the album's lead single and video, "What About Us?" (The track ranked at number 13 on last week's Billboard charts and is in heavy rotation on MTV and BET.)
In fact, Brandy appeared on Total Request Live Tuesday afternoon to discuss her marriage--and the new album, her first in three years.
The erstwhile Moesha--who turns 23 next Monday--has said she did some serious maturing since her last album. "In the past three years, I've focused on getting to know who I am inside," she said in a January statement that strongly hinted at today's announcement. "I took a break to reflect on myself as a person and I've grown a lot...I've experienced some things and I've learned some lessons, good and bad. I'm a woman now."
Indeed.
Since UPN canceled Moesha last year, Brandy has been keeping a relatively low profile, which included taking classes at Malibu's Pepperdine University. She had cut back on her hectic schedule of singing, acting, producing and modeling after she collapsed from exhaustion in 1999 while shooting her UPN sitcom.
In addition to Moesha, Brandy (full name: Brandy Rayana Norwood) appeared in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and Arachnophobia, voiced the role of Leah in Osmosis Jones and headlined the TV movies Cinderella and Double Platinum. Her self-titled 1994 debut album has sold more than 3 million copies and her 1998 followup, Never Say Never, has in excess of 5 million. She won a Grammy in 1999 for "The Boy Is Mine," her chart-topping duet with fellow R&B star Monica.
Unless she has been hiding more husbands from us, this is Brandy's first marriage. She previously dated Boyz II Men's Wayna Morris and went to the prom with all-world basketball star Kobe Bryant when he was still in high school. It is also the first trip down the aisle for Smith, who has worked with Michael Jackson and the Spice Girls.

Re: Re: Re: I'm going to try to answer some of your questions....
There have been/are countless gays or lesbians that have children and ARE married as we speak. Chit, many of them were gay/lesbian BEFORE they got married or had the child/ren. Just because someone has kids doesn't mean a dayum thing about their sexual orientation...THAT'S WHAT! Nor, being married doesn't mean a person is or is not gay or a lesbian!
Actually, you did see my point for MORE than a hot second, cause you validated it in your response above....THANKS!
Hell, I loved George Michael and he was fakin the funk too! If you're gay, you're gay...So, loving Wanya means....

I'm sure you guys know that.....
Today's Ms. Thing's birthday. She's 23 years old. And it's D'Angelo's birthday too; he's 28 (his fine self! ) Even though I dished out a lot of dirt on Ms. Thing and her mama, I wish Brandy the best of luck in her marriage.

Where did you hear that from? Oh my goodness!
Brandy is pregnant. Well, touch me in the morning and then just walk away! I guess that I shouldn't really be surprised because I never thought she was as innocent as she wanted us to believe. I figured that Ray-J would be the first to have a baby. Let's see how long this marriage lasts.
I know MaMa Norwood wasn't going to let that girl "tarnish her good name" by having a baby out of wedlock. It was probably a shotgun wedding.
I wonder what her baby is going to look like.

http://www.eurweb.com/articles/headl...8202212002.cfm
Feb. 21, 2002) I am so happy to be the very first to officially report the news that my pal Brandy –yes, the multifaceted superstar-- is expecting her first child this summer.
The former Miss Norwood, who just turned 23-years-old last week, and her newlywed husband producer Robert Smith are readying their most eagerly-anticipated release…a bouncing baby boy or girl that should see the light of day sometime in July.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, who just returned from a two-week promotional tour of Europe to support her new album, “Full Moon” –due out March 5—tells The RU Report that she’s very excited about motherhood.
“We’re so happy and excited,” she gushes. “I’ve always wanted children and look forward to being a mom.”
Brandy scoffs at the rumors implying that she’s not really married. She concedes that she did not want the rumor mill to turn her pregnancy into media spectacle, for she has nothing to be ashamed of, or anything to hide. That’s why she decided to talk exclusively to The RU Report.
“My fans that have been with me since I was 14 should know that I am happy, being married and having a baby. These are gifts from God.”
Brandy assures me that her marriage to the 22-year-old Smith, who is the first cousin of super-producer Rodney Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston), was not as “secret” as everyone made it out to be. “It was never a secret from my perspective,” she says. “At the time we married, I had no projects out, I wasn’t in the spotlight so we took advantage of enjoying our time together. We’ve had such a wonderful time enjoying our privacy.”
She describes her hubby as both “ecstatic and overprotective” of her and the baby.
With plans of fully promoting her comeback album, via tours of Japan and Canada, Brandy assures us that the baby will not slow her down –at least not yet. “Being pregnant doesn’t mean life stops, it means life begins.”
Boy or Girl? It’s too soon to tell but Brandy says it doesn’t matter as long as the baby is healthy. Her and Smith are taking the parent business very serious. “We are reading a lot on parenting books and asking questions but we will let experience be our best teacher,” she adds.
When I suggest that she may be taking the road less traveled, she intercedes: “I don’t think so, there are a lot of women who are married, having babies and careers. There are a lot or recording artists, women especially, who are married and have kids not to think about those who are in the film and TV business.” Well alrightee then.
Brandy will team up with acclaimed music video director Chris Robinson to film the video for her second single, which is the album’s the title track, in a few weeks. The first single from the album, “What About Us,” –produced by Jerkins-- is an infectious anthem that has hit the Top 10 on the Billboard charts.
Brandy’s mother/manager Sonja Norwood tells The RU Report she’s very happy with the news that her firstborn will deliver her first grandchild. “All of my friends have at least two or more Grands and I’m late. I couldn’t be happier with Robert and am looking forward to that great Grand day. Rooms are being prepared and the days are not coming fast enough.”
Brandy and “family” will arrive in Gotham next weekend to celebrate the release of “Full Moon.” While here, she will knock out a bevy of heavy media chores including “The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” “The Conan O’Brien Show,” “Regis & Kelly,” “The Early Show,” “106th & Park,” “TRL” and an exclusive album release party, in conjunction with Vibe magazine. The Cover Girl model is on deck to grace the cover of the urban culture magazine’s April issue. Brandy will also do an in-store at Rockefeller Center’s FYE record store on the day of release.
“[Music] and [My new family life] both are important to me,” she adds. “Right now, I’m enjoying the experience of marriage and being pregnant. But if I had to choose between the two, I ‘d rather be a mother. Thank God, I don’t have to choose! I will continue to work before and after. As you so well know, I have multi-tasked for years, I’ve learned the art very well.”
