Gamma Sigma Sigma doesn't have a mascot, but we all use the White Rose as a symbol. Chapters are free to use whatever mascot they want, but as Sahara said earlier, MANY of our chapters use the Penguin as a mascot.

Here in my district (GA/SC) a lot of the chapters use the Penguin as their mascot. But there are 1 or 2 chapters that don't use it. They use a White Tiger or a Butterfly instead.

If Nu Chapter has any overall local mascots and things, we've forgotten about them over the years as far as I'm aware ... perhaps we should get some? Each of the families within the chapter has its own mascot, colors, etc. For example, my family, Xi, has the tiger as our mascot, tiger lilies as our flower, the eggplant as our vegetable (we just felt the need to have a vegetable ...), and black, white, and egglant purple as our colors.

(Can someone PM me and tell me what is the deal with the fratty guys and why they won't leave? I think that I missed something ...)

Ours is an Axe with a wooden handle flanked by three smaller sticks that are tied at three points up the shaft of the axe. The numbers 5, 1, and 3 are written on the three parts of the axe which faces right. There's a phrase under it.

Not sure if its a common thing, but we have our own chapter crest. One of our bros designed it and we put it on some t-shirts.

the angel is not Pi Beta Phi's offical symbol, we adopted it somewhere in the 1910's or 20's. A lot of songs were popping up about Pi Phi's being angels. I think it has to do with the arrow and the imagery of cupid.

We don't have any local mascots. Our mascot is the lion (his name is "Alphie.") Our international symbols include the woodland violet and the 4-point diamond.

I love my sorority to death, but I have to say that I wish I was a Tri Sigma in your chapter.

When I was at the University of Florida, we used the Zebra. The strawberry wasn't a ZTA national symbol at that time.

We also had a different national philanthropy. It wasn't Breast Cancer but the National Association for Retarded Citizens.

Why do I find this funny? I guess I'm used to everything being so PC that I would expect National Association for the Mentally Challenged.

Well, I suppose you could compare the "political correctness" to the NAACP-- National Association of Colored People.

My chapter's local mascot is the alligator. When the chapter was colonized in 1961 the Kappa Sigmas did a lot to help us and we adopted their mascot as a thank you. It's a unique local mascot but it's hard to find any Zeta stuff with gators on it. Trips to Louisiana and Florida were always filled with gator hunts!

We don't have a local mascot. Like most Pi Phi chapters, we use the angel as our mascot.
