Bad storms in the DC area on Friday. We still have no power and they said it could be a week before it is restored.

I was wondering if we had GCers in the mid-Atlantic storm. Hope power is restored to all soon!

My town won't have power until next Sunday, according to the power company. I've never been happier to be at a conference in another state! My poor husband and dog are melting with the 100+ degree temps.

DC area here, though I'm currently staying with family in DE and their lovely power/wifi. Best part of all of this: I was supposed to work 8-5 Saturday, but there was no power. Procedure is that they would send us home but pay us for four hours, so if the power came back on we'd be expected to come in. Effectively, I got paid $8.75 an hour to nap. our english springer spaniel is certainly enjoying the air conditioning and new people who will pet him.

Ohio here. Lots of people without power. May take until July 8 to get it all restored.

I just heard on the radio that Michigan is sending 400 people down to help restore power in Ohio.

Severe in the opposite direction, I suppose: it finally rained here at IU last night for the first time in almost a month. Drought here has gotten so bad that we're under total burn bans and a lot of cities are canceling their fireworks displays!

Here is some good information on food safety when it comes to severe weather (both hot and cold) so y'all can be prepared and also not get sick!

Mostly southern. Southeast part of the state was hit the worst.

Huge storms swept from Indiana to Washington, DC Friday and left tons of people without power.
http://www.weather.com/news/friday-s...torms-20120629
The hail storm was freaky. My kids' friends who live in Rockwood and S. Rockwood had major damage also.. to their cars, and windows in houses. As they were posting pictures of so much hail that it looked like the ground was snow covered.. ping pong sized hail, and that area got 2.1 inches of rain from one downpour, just 4 miles north, we had not a drop of rain or anything. I heard the thunder though. After the storm, I went a mile away to a Kroger and their parking lot was massive puddles. Not a drop at my house. So weird!

I flew home to Michigan from our Convention in Denver this morning and as we were flying over Lake Michigan the pilot pointed out the huge storm/thunderheads right over Chicago...he said he was really glad we weren't going there.

Dee is right. I was in Trenton and looked towards the south. It looked like armageddon. I heard the thunder and rushed home to Southgate (5 minute drive) and NOTHING. While I was getting gas in Trenton, I did notice a huge rotating cloud that freaked me out even more. There was a weird tail of a cloud that was really low and I kept thinking it looked odd. Most likely it became the funnel cloud that was spotted in New Boston.
