I love that house. I'm guessing that's in the Bee Caves area of Austin.

My main problem is with the irresponsibilty inherent in it. I guess I should have used moviemakers who irresponsibly glorify the Old South as an example instead (even if I never saw the movie).

We're never going to agree on this so I'll just chime in and say I hate McMansions also.
I understand what you mean. I know someone who's had four abortions

I'm glad to see so many on Team Hate McMansions.

Drolefille, I know some newer housing developments that you would absolutely love. These areas pride themselves with having large properties with lots of trees including smaller forests and woodlands (woods?). The properties are well monitored to make sure the animals don't get out of hand. This goes well for those who like nature and don't completely want to remove animals from human existences. I grew up around tons of trees...TONS of trees...and I wouldn't live in a neighborhood without them.

Oh that sounds amazing! I grew up in a relatively old neighborhood for my city, and going to school took us through even more established ones. I love that there are trees that line the streets and turn pretty colors in the fall. And I also grew up by a park and would climb the evergreens here all the time and make forts in them in the winter.

Trees are win. Unfortunately living on the prairie or practically in a cornfield, new developments around here are pretty much treeless.

I'm not sure but that trendir site features amazing home designs from all over the world. I've seriously found about 20 dream homes of mine on that site.
