I'm feelin you on that; however, why was I subjected to 101 Dalmation's version of "Atomic Dog"? Why, Lawd, why?

Yes, Sterling. I remember him. My mother used to love him. She really loved his deep dimples and broad shoulders. I remember seeing him on tour with Janet Jackson awhile ago, but I dunno what he's up to now. Oh and Reds6, Rico Suave's name is Gerardo, just to let you know.

Down memory lane...

Aiight...I'm in agreement with:
B Angie B (love and still play that CD - she had a song "so much love" that was the BOMB!!)
Loved Troop!!! The group and the dance, LOL.
Hi Five (wore out that tape - need to get CD of their greatest hits, which is THE BOMB - my sister has it)
KRIS KROSS (shoot, my car currently has "Young, Rich, & Dangerous" in the CD player, on "Mackin' Ain't Easy". I can sing practically every song on this CD. It's the one with "Tonite's tha night" - pick it up if you see it, cuz it's nice. I love the Chris's, LOL.)
Mokenstef ("Stef" of Mokenstef went to my high school - she was a little thug, LOL. Cool as heck tho, and a heck of a cheerleader)

Okay, Lalah Hathaway put out a CD with Joe Sample a couple of years back that was AND IS extremely nice. The hit song was a deep azz slow jam - "When Your Life Was Low". A remake of "For All We Know"....BEAUTIFUL!! Also, "Fever"...it's nice!! I saw them in concert, and it was one of the best concerts I've EVER SEEN - she has talent and will blow up eventually. Folks are still sleeping on her, it's hard to believe.

My "Where are they Now's are:

#1 ON MY LIST IS...ZAPP!! Rest in peace Roger Troutman!! They were the BEST!!! Heartbreaker?? So Rough, So Tough?? LEGENDARY!!

I must've missed somebody mention STACY LATTISAW!!! Who besides me knew all the words to "Silly", and even had a dude that you felt 'SILLY' about, LOL. And what about her and Johnny Gill singing "Where do we go from here?" WHAT!!

VESTA!!! Thass my GURL!! Congratulaaaaationssss!!!
ATLANTIC STARR!! "Secret Lovers" - whatt!!!!
SHIRLEY MURDOCK!! "Husband" was my favorite, oh, and "Without You"
CRAIG MACK!! "Flava in ya ear" - where is Craig at?
SPECIAL ED! "I'm the magnificent!!" = that used to be my theme song, LOL.
MIKI HOWARD - "Love Under New Management" is one of my favorite songs EVER!!
TODAY!!! I loved me some Big Bub - "why you gettin' funky on me"..."your love's not true"...OH YES!! I wore that tape out, and would love to find the CD.
SURFACE: Didn't they sing "Happy"...that was a real nice tape that I wore out...need to find that CD too.

and from my ghetto youth...
N.W.A. - rest in peace, Eazy E!!! I'm talkin' old school, "Gangsta Gangsta" and "Dopeman"...once Cube left, it all fell apart (sigh).
J.T. & the POISON CLAN...straight ghetto, degrading but with a funky beat music here...

Okay, I'm sure I've seen "the Force MD's" mentioned...the ones who sang "Tender Love"? And "Ready for the World"?

Vesta is out there, she sings mainly Jazz now

As for Special Ed he was just on 106th and Park I think last week.
He is behind the scenes more so now. Iloved me some Special Ed as well. I think he's married, he had a wedding band on but I don't think he commented on it unless I missed that part. He has gained a little weight, but it looks good on him since he was soooooo skinny.

Re: Re: Down memory lane...

I thought Special Ed looked a hot, boiled, mess. He looked like who-done-it and who-shot-john! I never thought he was cute and now I see why. However, I KINDA liked his music.

I agree with MOST of everyone's "where are they nows."

I miss Queen Latifah (I want her to have a new and GOOD album)
I miss the BEST rapper EVER....Rakim!!! He never has to make a song again...he'll always be #1 (not Jay Z or Biggie...eventhough Pac is #2...different topic )
I miss MC Shan, Roxanne Shante, and them. If anyone, remembers 106 and Park, when they did "The Bridge." Well, Roxanne Shante was backstage, but I believe she didn't come out. I know she's a doctor now, or something, but I really wanted her to do an ol' skool tribute. Imagine, there are "youngins" out there that don't really know any of the people we're talking about...*gasp*

American Music Awards

This kinda fits into the topic. Who all saw the AMA last night?

Britney Spears FLUNKED (thumbs down). The girl absolutely can't sing. I will say this much, she looked nice being fully clothed!

Yolanda Adams turned it out!!! I was totally proud of her

I loved how the Backstreet Boys introduced their new talent...she put it down. Did you all see how Destiny's Child was looking at her while she was singing????

Destiny's Child is good, but they FRONTED last night. Those girls know good and well that they were going to win between NSync and Jagged Edge.

Lastly, I believe that MUSIQ should have won best New Artist (Competitors: Alicia Keys, Blu Cantrell, and Musiq). It was a tight competition, but Alicia Keys racked up on everything.

Any comments????

I agree and let me please clarify, when I said that I loved me some Special Ed, girl I did mean his music. I alsways thought he was funny looking, but I still have to go with the weight on him looked good.

I am right along with you about Rakim. I have Rakim's CD that he came out with on his own without Eric B a few years back. Well it also has like the best of Eric B and Rakim and has all the old cuts that will make you nod your head. Remember those were the days of no bleeping on the radio and you could listen the the entire song on the radio.

Yes, you are correct Roxanne Shante is a Psychologist if I am not mistaken.

Hey I gonna try my hand at being Flo Anthony by doing my own "Where are they now" :-)

1. Troop - I believed that did out out a new CD about 2 years ago
2.Hi Five - I believe that two of the members were wanted (or went to jail) for gang activity
3.Kriss Kross - I heard that one of the (Chris the dark one) had leukimia
4.Shirley Murdock - She's acting/singing in gospel plays
5. Today - I dunno but they song always makes me wanna go see "House Party"
6. JT & PC - I know JT had his CD out about 2-3 years ago ("that song "Who Dat") but I think the rest of PC are doing their own thing in MIA

*Disclaimer* The statement that you have just read may or may not be true. Please consultant someone who has more entertainment experience besides staring in a 3rd grade performance of Snow White" :-)

my all time favorite group is NEW EDITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
omg i still love them today....

BTW..can someone pleasse tell me what happened to the Mary Jane Girls? I had to sneak and listen to their album( yes album!).

What happened to The Boyz? I know y'all remember "Dial My Heart." I had that album, but I no longer have anything to play it on. I always wonder if Bilal is the same Bilal that was in the group.. he would be around the right age. Anybody remember the 4th brother's name? Bilal, Khari, Hakeem (To use Soror Ideal's word, I was lightweight in love with this fool back then.. LOL) and I know there was another one but I can't think of his name for the life of me.

Sweetest Diva, interesting conclusion, indeed. Yeah SOMEONE still has my THE BOYS tape that I let her borrow back in oooh 1989 . You get ONE GUESS who that is!!

I am looking on the net now to find a site for them and maybe do an age progression for the Bilals.

Okay I did some checking and all I could find were lyrics to Dial My Heart. Typing "the Boys" only lead me to the Backstreet and Beach ones. Anywho based on what I just read for Bilal, he is not a former "THE BOY." http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=Bwgu36j5171e0

I believe the 4th "THE BOY" was Taj because I have always liked that name.

Yes that was his name, and I liked that little group myself.

Now to answer your question about these three, it's spelled Michel'le, and she had a record deal with Death Row and she even put out an album; didn't do so well, though. MC Lyte had an album out a couple of years ago called "Seven and Seven." I'm still trying to figure out what the significance of that title was and why she even bothered to put out her first single, "I Can't Make a Mistake." Her mistake was putting out that album!!! And Total is a little different now since Kima (the skinny, big headed one) got married and she wants no parts of the group. Kameelah from 702 (the dark-skinned one who sang her butt off) has replaced Kima and they are probably working on an album now.
