bump! I forgot about this one. The baby I talked about in the first post is now 7, although coming after 12 sibs he's more like a 40-year-old.
What I also like about fall: decorating our porch for Halloween. We're putting out lots of pumpkin and candy-corn decoations and lights next week! Aforementioned 7-year-old really wants a scary pirate theme but I don't want dead pirates hanging from the flagpole.
And--- pumpkin pie!!!

I always loved the ritual of dragging out the Pendleton plaid wool skirts and bulky sweaters, but now that we've moved to Alabama and it's almost 90 today I'm just not feeling it.

Late night football games where it's cold enough to share a stadium blanket
The smell of burning leaves...
Decorating pumpkins with my daughter..
This is the first fall in my lifetime that I'm spending away from where the leaves turn color...it ought to be interesting...

Nothing beats the crisp air of the autumn, after a hot, humid, and strength-sapping summer! It brings the creativity out in me, and is by far my favorite season - closely followed by spring. I have to stay out of craft stores, this time of year! So, I love
the crisp air, with that cleansing, invigorating feel
the smell of cider
tailgating/Homecoming
FOOTBALL!!!!!!
SOCCER!!!!!
snuggling
pumpkin roll
watching the leaves turn
going to the mountains (a must-do every fall)
candy corn
new clothes - especially sweaters!
new ER cast
new *other* tv shows
the yearly neighborhood clambake
pruning plants for next year
planting bulbs for next spring...
In fact, everything except hayrides & halloween!

Leaf Parties!
These consist of raking and bagging leaves all day with our wonderful neighbors on both sides of our house and the two houses across the street. Afterwards we have dinner (and many drinks) outside around the fireplace. We've been doing this since our kids were little and now most of them are off at school!

What a great way to make a crappy chore (raking. yuck.) enjoyable. I'll have to propose this to my neighbors.
But, to stay on topic, the best part of fall is college football.
