When someone gets them at work, everybody talks about it! It's a good thing...

Okay.
Time is running out.
I can't decide between two dozen long stemmed red roses (which represent that classic, romantic, conservative side of me)
or
a dozen sunflowers tied together with burgundy and gold ribbon (symbolizing a scene in and motif from novels, which is how he met me)(not IN the novel, which is a work of fiction silly, but because his friend turned him on to my work, then he found me through her)
I am starting to feel like the roses are a cop-out and sorta....eh. Like, roses. Come on. Not very inspired. Very hetero.
But I feel like sunflowers are gross and not everyone would actually LIKE sunflowers. Sure, they have more meaning, but...sunflowers? I would like them. Especially because of the meaning.
On a more decisive note they're going to be hand delivered by a friend/APO brother of mine to his birthday party, since I won't be there. (They live in the same city -- I don't. Don't worry, APO brother won't steal him from me)

Eek, tough call. Ok I say the sunflowers, but would it work to stick one deep red rose in there, one that would match the burgundy ribbon or coordinate? It would symbolize the same as two dozen while having more meaning by being in the "field" of sunflowers.

I like the idea of sunflowers with some roses placed in between them.

someone who's willing to go the route of "hey i dig you enough to put my mouth there" wins more points in my book over someone who sticks a "thinking of you" card in a dozen of roses.
f*ck romance. get head.

are you more concerned with him being impressed and feeling romantic or immediately knowing who they're from? if the arrangement is being delivered by hand (and by a brother - nice!) then i would lean towards the roses if you're going for the romantic "wow" factor. people will go "ooh" and "aah" and i think even for a second hell be like "damn someone is feelin me!" if youre going for the "oh i know EXACTLY who those are from," go with the sunflowers. hopefully it will click instantly and the meaning isn't lost on the lucky guy.

So my bf asked me if I liked flowers and I was like "I guess" and he was like "you guess??" and I was like "I dont know. I've never gotten flowers before" and he was completely shocked and said "But a pretty girl like you should be getting flowers everyday!"
(Yeah, my last bf was kind of an idiot. We're only sophomores in college and he's already had about 10 exes.. I was his longest relationship.. 6.5 months.. I consider that short but whatever And all he ever got me was a green hat (which doesn't match any of my clothes) and a stuffed husky (which was cute))

Well, I made the call today and I decided on a dozen sunflowers with three red roses in the center. Yayyyyyyyy! We will confirm on Wednesday about the availability of sunflowers. If they aren't available, then I will go all out with the two dozen long stemmed red roses.
After placing an all-call among my friends, my Great^5 Little Brother (in APO) has decided to be the runner for me. He's excited for me, which is cool considering he's a breeder.
If THAT doesn't work out, the restaurant/lounge has given me permission to pre-deliver the flowers earlier in the evening so that they can already be on the table when the dude gets there.
It would be a shame if the dude was on GreekChat reading this, LOLOL. Not likely, since he's not Greek and doesn't aspire to be.

Well, I finalized the order today....not really expensive at all. I'm nervous! But I won't stress about it. It's out of my hands now.
