I think she should stay. I understand conflicting feelings, but at least give it a shot!! ZTA was her first choice, so she should be thrilled and go with her heart.

Update! She is attending a financial meeting tonight. If she thinks she can afford, she will stay with ZTA!

Well, she had finally decided to stay with ZTA. She was on the flag football team and very excited. Unfortunately, her parents made her drop out. They said it was stupid for her to pay for a sorority when she should be using that money to save for a car. Her parents aren't the most supportive or nicest people in the world, so it's not a shock that they would do this. She's pretty upset though.

How did they make her drop out? She is an adult! Was she going to pay for the dues herself? Or was she blackmailed?
Either way that really sucks!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that, especially since she had decided to stay. She's in my thoughts!

Well, she still lives with them, but I think she was paying her own dues. They did pay for her school. I've tried to tell her to move out in the dorms and get a student loan, but no one listens to me! Hopefully she'll do that for the spring semester and get away from her parents. They aren't very nice

Just from this, I'd have to agree.
I grew up very lucky in that as long as I got good grades and didn't get into any big trouble (which I never did) they pretty much let me do whatever I wanted.
I think it sucks when parents want to live their kids lives for them.....

Alrighty, here's yet another update!!!
(I'm not familiar with the procedure I'm about to try to describe, so feel free to jump in and let me know!)
June is going on "hold" for this semester. She said that she will be fully initiated this semester, but continue her new member ed next semester. Does everyone do this? Is this a program ZTA has? I'm confused....

I am the new member advisor for a ZTA chapter, and I'm confused. She cannot be initiated until she completes her new member program. I am curious to hear more details about this! Let me know if she tells you any more!

Ok, here's the real story!!!
Apparently, she was telling my brother this thing about "hold" while her parents were in the room because this is the story she's telling them! She's actually going through everything normally. Glad to have that cleared up!
