It's been a while . .
I think this is it -
Gamma Phi girl I love you,
I love you best of all. (or is it most???)
I love your sweet smile,
and I love your smart style,
and I love you short or tall.
Brown eyes or blue eyes,
they twinkle and shine,
when walking or talking
I think you're divine,
and blonde or brunette (red!)
I'll never forget,
that Gamma Phi girl of mine.

bump!
at our recruitment retreat last weekend, our SRC taught us a new song:
My, oh my its time to say goodbye
Cuz its really getting kinda late
(clap, clap)
But before you go, we want you to know
That the Gamma Phis think you’re great
(clap, clap)
Oh we think you’re swell and to you we tell
That the Gamma Phis know, you’re the best and so
Hurry back, please do, until then adieu
From the Gamma Phis to all of you (clap, clap)

A few of us who went to convention this past summer were trying to remember the cheers we saw, as well as cheers we've seen at Founder's Days, RLCs and PLCs.
Specifically, we want to remember the rest of this one that we saw, and I don't remember what chapter it's from (I think it's SoCal though):
"We're cool, we go to school, we make all the boys drool, we're Gamma Phis" and I can't remember the rest, but it's really cute.
Anyone have any good cheers we can teach our newer girls for future events like this (ie. Anchor Splash and Greek man are coming up... have to outcheer the other chapters... you all know how it goes)???

I love this song!
We're gamma phi, ch ch chh, ch ch chh chh chh
We're gamma phi, ch ch chh, ch ch chh chh chh
We're the gamma phis at [name] University
And believe me, every girl here you'll wanna meet.
We're cool, we go to school, we make ALL the boys drool
We like to live our lives by the golden rule
We're gamma phi, ch ch chh, ch ch chh chh chh
We're gamma phi, ch ch chh, ch ch chh chh chh
Take a look at my sister
She's outta sight
There's somethin bout the crescent moon shinin at night
(One half) Hey honey!
(Other half) Hey sugar!
Let me give you a clue
When the weekend comes we know what to do
We have formals, exchanges, and philanthropy too
If you pledge our house, you'll never be blue!
We're gamma phi, ch ch chh, ch ch chh chh chh
We're gamma phi, ch ch chh, ch ch chh chh chh
We like to sing, party, giggle, wiggle, dance til we drop
Some say SLOW DOWN but baby we don't sto-op
The sisterhood here is amazing, you'll see.
The best friends you'll find are g-phi-b
So come on all you ladies and join our fun
Cuz every year we're number one
We're gamma phi, ch ch chh, ch ch chh chh chh
We're gamma phi, ch ch chh, ch ch chh chh chh
We're gamma phi!!

I'm so glad I found this thread because our chapter only knows about two chants! I know the one post said they do hand motions to "I love the crescent moon" and I was wondering if anyone knew them because we used to do them too but I cant remember everything. Also, if anyone could send me some of the dirty songs/chants please just for fun I'd appreciate it!

With initiation approaching (tomorrow!), I was wondering if anyone else had a little sister song that they sang to the new members. I've never heard anyone else's but ours, and I was just curious

I always loved this one!
We're the Gamma Phi Betas from U-S-C
We're here to shout
We're here to show
We are the best house on the row
So clap your hands and stomp your feet
And come along to the G-Phi-Beat
We're at the top
We can't be stopped
We rock the row
We run the show
Forget the rest
WE are the best!
G-a-m-m-a P-h-i B-e-t-a (hair flips)
G-a-m-m-a P-h-i B-e-t-a
We're the Gamma Phi Betas from U-S-C!!!!!

My favorite song =)
On the first night of formal recruitment, our school hosts an icecream social. When we're walking there, as a group we sing this song:
In the background:
Gamma Phi Beta, Gamma Phi Beta (high)
Gamma Phi Beta, Gamma Phi Beta (low)
Oh we are the girls that really are amazing.
With our smiles and our pep we'll drive you plum crazy.
With our crescent and pearls we are true hearted girls,
and after we're gone just remember our song we are the Gamma Phi Beta,
Gamma Phi Beta, Gamma Phi Beta girls!

songs with dirty lyrics
I'm visiting my daughter's college next week and she asked if I would teach them some of our old songs (from a different chapter). I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't remember much. I know the "You Take the Legs of Betty Grable..." song and also one that starts out "Dxxn Dxxn Dxxn the Delta Gammas..."
Does anyone have any others to suggest? Please pm me if you do.
Thanks.

Song Help!
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and I was reading about all the old songs I used to sing; it began to make me wonder if anyone knows the song that is sometimes sang at candle passings (I think they were called something like that...it's been a while). Anyway, all I remember is the title "Pass it on", and then of course part of the chorus was "you'll want to pass it on", and "if you need a friend I am one".
There was another really pretty song we sang before our formals, but alas I can't even begin to remember that one.
Thanks all!
In II K E,
Kathy

Pass It On
I think every sorority has a version of "Pass It On" -we used it for rush.
It only takes a spark,
to get a fire going;
and soon all those around
can warm up in its glowing,
that's how it is with Gamma Phi,
once you've experienced it.
You'll want to sing,
it's fresh like spring,
you'll want to pass it on.
I wish for you my friend
this happiness that I've found.
You can depend on me;
it matters not where you're bound.
I'll shout it from the mountain top;
I want the world to know
what Gamma Phi
has given me.
I want to pass it on.

Candelight Song (Gamma Nu chapter)- posted earlier, but not as a candlelight song.
Gamma Phi Girl
I love you,
I love you short or tall.
I love your sweet smile,
and I love your smart style,
I love you short or tall.
Brown eyes or blue eyes,
they twinkle and shine.
When walking or talking,
I think you're divine.
And blonde or brunette (red!)
I'll never forget
that Gamma Phi girl of mine.
Candlelight Song (Gamma Chi chapter)
Today while the memories of old Gamma Phi
are telling the story of years gone by,
a million tomorrows will pass away,
but the sisterhood of Gamma Phi will stay.
A Gamma Phi girl is chosen with care;
you'll know who she is by the pin that she wears.
The crescent and pearls are ever alive,
in the heart of each Gamma Phi.

Candle passing song
Can anyone help me fill in the rest of these lyrics? We used this at Northwestern when I was there in the late 90s/early 2000s
"To you my love, I’m offering my heart,
you know your Gamma Phi has loved you from the start.
No words can ever express, how much you mean to me,
the time will never come when you will cease to be my heart’s desire,
the one that I adore, the one that fate has always meant me for.
Through happiness or storm or strife, I love you darling all my life."
Then there was another verse...
I want you near me - all the while.
To share your laughter, see you smile.
Then, if we had sung this for two go-rounds of the passing, we would speed it up with a final chant, something like.
"Kinda shy, loves her guy, and he loves his Gamma Phi..." something like that.
Thanks!!
