too sleepy to read too far back but it should be mentioned several times a major thread: Kermit the Frog was created by Jim Henson and his wife while students at the University of Maryland...in the chapter house of Alpha Xi Delta...Jane Henson is directly responsible for suggesting Kermie's eyes could be ping pong balls....

The theme song.

When Sesame Street started, I was working at a Public TV station in college. We all loved it, because "Educational Television" was so dry and stuffy in those days and here was something that was paced like Laugh-In which was huge on commercial TV at that time.

Even as college students, we would gather around the master control room or the "big" TV in the dorm TV lounges to watch Sesame Street.

"I don't want to live on the moon" was my first thought - love that song. I also love "The Rainbow Connection" - what a great song!!

Eli never watched Sesame Street much, but anytime they would play "Journey to Ernie" he was completely absorbed. He LOVED the song when Big Bird found Ernie:
