* I'm the fourth generation in this country.
* The women in my family, on both sides, all have names that end in "een"; Paternal Grandmother is Eileen, her only daughter out of seven children is also named Eileen. Materanl Grandmother is Kathleen. Her first daughter is named Kathleen, my mother is Colleen and the youngest girl is Maureen.
* My father is one of seven children, my mother is one of five children. My father's oldest brother, Jimmy, dated my mother's oldest sister, Kathy, for three years. One of my father's younger brothers, Kenny, dated my mother's younger sister, Maureen. My mother and father were the only ones to make it.
* My parents have been together since they were 12 and 13. They married at 17 and 18 and had me at 18 and 19.
* My father is exactly 19 years and 6 months older than me.
* My parents are the only ones who have left New York. My dad is a Marine. They're trying to get him to retire somewhere up there.
* I lived in Japan for 3 1/2 years ('89-'92).
* My parents and my little brother have lived in Japan for the last three years.
* I'm the oldest grandchild.
* My ex-boyfriend of seven years is a tattoo artist and I do not have a single tattoo on my body.
* I dated my current boyfriend in Japan, for a year and 5 months. Ten years later and we're together again.
* I'm a health nut.
* I speak spanish, not perfectly, but I can speak it.
* I'm a Clinique Consultant.
* I've always wanted to be a professional dancer/actress.
* I have a persian cat that I love with all of my heart. His name is Max. He loves to eat grapes, bananas, and french fries. Of course, I don't eat a lot of french fries and I don't let him have but one little one when I do have them.
* My father won the golden gloves, for lightweights, in Oklahoma (his first duty station).
* I was born in Oklahoma, my father's first duty station, and the hospital that I was born in is now a mental institution.
O.K. that's enough.

Sorry, I keep thinking of other stuff...
-We have three children, all of whom were born in different states -- Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Detroit Michigan and Denver, Colorado.
-Each of their baby books has a page written by the weatherman at the TV station I was working for at those times (Paul (Somebody), WTMJ; Barry ZeVan, WJBK; Larry Green, KCNC) talking about how the weather was that day.
-There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that we wanted to have a child in each of the 50 states.

ok-all about me!
SoCal, this is such a cute saying!:

And now.. all about me:
- I was the first person on my mother's side to graduate from college
- I think I was the first person in my entire family to be greek, although my sister followed in my footsteps! (She's a Kappa, though)
- I'm ambidextrious... when I was little, until about 5 years old, I used only my left hand. Now I write right handed (but can use my left), and do most other things with my left hand. No one knows why I switched hands!
- When I was a kid I took tap & jazz dance, played soccer & played softball. And I'm not athletic!
- I can't remember the first time I rode on a motorcylce, because I've grown up with them. I could ride a motorcycle before I could drive a car!
- Until I was 22 years old, I had a different car for each year I had been driving (7 cars total). I'm still on #7 at the age of 25. With the exception of one car I totalled, all were just old junkers that died on me.
- In high school I knew more about car maintenance than any of my male friends.
- In high school I played in 5 bands: a local youth wind band(Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony), my high school marching band, pep band, jazz band and concert band. I played tuba in all of them, plus I played with some friends in brass ensembles.
- I started piano when I was about 6.. my mom taught me for a month, but I always fought with her, so I quit taking lessons. I just taught myself after that. (In Jr. High I took a year of lessons and didn't take anymore til college, when I had 2 years of class piano).
- I am teaching myself guitar and harmonica
- My mom, grandma & I all have the same middle name. My first and last names are both spelled differently than originally intended. The spelling of my last name was changed when that family arrived at Ellis Island. My first name is my mom's maiden name, but spelled the way my dad preferred.
- One of my hobbies is designing web sites like this one
- I love Kung Fu films
- Someday I want to teach film and film studies at a university
- I would love to be a rock star.
- In college I didn't change my major until the 2cnd semester of my junior year. This means I completed my major in 1 1/2 years!.
- I said I'd never go greek, and now I'm on the National Council of my GLO!
- I took 4 years of French and 1 year of German: I can speak German better!
- I wish I would have studied abroad in college, but I would have had to go an extra semester and couldn't afford it.
- I have never dyed my hair. I have only worn makeup on 2 occassions (excluding Halloween and theatre productions): when I went to a Homecoming dance in 10th grade because my mom insisted I put some on, and a few weeks ago at a friend's Mary Kay party.
- I've had my belly button pierced for years, and can't wait to get my tattoo.
- I'm a natural born feminist. When I was little I thought my brother (who was nearly 9 years older than me) got to do things I didn't because he was a boy. Turns out that my great-great grandma was quite a feminist, too. She went to men's basketball games, left her husband to take care of the kids, and was head of the school board. Things unheard of in her time.
Okay, I think that's enough for now. This is such an interesting thread!!

Oh, SigmaChiCard...
I would teach you Japanese
You know, this would finally be the perfect time to employ some lame wit. Unfortunately I am not a guy so I can't use that infamous line...
Guy of Korean/Spanish/whatever descent: Hey, do you have any Korean/Spanish/whatever in you?
Girl: No
Guy: Want some?
Lude, disgusting, but rather comical.

Let's see.....
1. I don't know how many generations my families been over here, but the first arrived to help put down the "American Rebellion" (some family still call it that).
2. I spent seven years in the Canadian military prior to going to university (as such some brothers call me grandpa).
3. I joined Lambda Chi Alpha despite the fact that my grand-father and great grand-father both pledge Zeta Psi. I decided I didn't want to tempt fate... my great grand-father pledged in 1914 and my grand-father in 1939. Neither joined following the wars.
4. While in Ottawa with the military, Tom Green's parents lived six houses down from me. All I can say is that he isn't acting on TV thats the way he is all the time.
5. I fully support the belief that American beer is like making love in a canoe......

ok, I've thought long and hard. here are a few facts about me...
- I'm 24 and still living with my dad. (he likes me here and it's cheap)
- I still don't have my full license to drive(in Ontario you have to take two road tests - i've only taken 1)
- I'm 13th generation canadian (approx.) One-eighth of my family can trace our ancestors back to the first one in Canada circa 1640.
- My brother lives in Japan and works for Epson computers (he's the successful one )
- I took all math and science courses in HS planning to be either A) a veterinarian or B) an accountant. I graduated college last year with a double major in French and Classical Civilization without taking a single math or science course.
- Although I have my degree in French, I really suck at speaking it.
- My mother is crazy (literally - paranoid schizophrenic)
- I have no talent
- I can't snap my fingers (always felt left out as a kid when they got to "if you're happy and you know it snap your fingers")
- I got my screen name from the stuffed beanie moose that my dad had sitting on top of the computer(we used it as a dust cloth)
- I was 20 before I had ever visited another Province
- I've had 3 boyfriends. two of which lasted for just under 2 yrs...the first one ended 1 wk before our 2-yr anniversary, the last one ended 2 days before the 2-yr date....I'm hoping to get past the 2 year mark next time.
- I went to teacher's college this year and dropped out. I never really wanted to be a teacher anyway, but i know there are others who should've done the same.
- I'm taking Latin and Ancient Greek courses for fun this semester.
- This is the first time in my life i'm totally clueless and have no plans for the future. I don't know what to do with myself!
Well, that's all for now...

I don't think I'm horribly interesting but here goes
~ My mother named me Emily because it was an uncommon, old fashioned name . . . it is now one of the most popular names (I think I know around 4 girls named Emily and all under the age of 12).
~I turned 18 my very first day of classes my freshman year.
~During allergy season I can single handedly use an entire box of kleenex in 24 hours.
~I've never counted them, but I have more books than I have space for . . . literally. They take up 2 shelves, stacks, at least 4 boxes and I don't know how much space in the attic.
~Based on what I paid for them the text books sitting in my apartment are worth more than my stereo, vcr, tv, microwave and computer combined.
~My favorite food is ranch (hidden valley) salad dressing. It's good on anything!

*I used to like to fool around on the internet.
*Until one website took it seriously!
*Various members on that website contacted my chapter and my school!
*All the greeks at my school harrassed me.
*I was expelled from my GLO
*I'm am suspended from school for the remaining of the semester.
*I was arrested. Ooh, I really enjoyed those 5 days in jail and a $5000 fine!
