These songs are bringing back memories for me! I love it!
We used to chant at the top of our lungs:
Delta Gamma D-G
We're the best Sorority
Flim flam give a damn
We're the Delta Gammas
HEY!
Also, when I was in college, a CDC came and taught us a dirty Delta Gamma song! haha! We thought it was hilarious. If you want it, email me at

DG songs
hey i'm at the SDSU chapter and i've only heard like two of the cheers listed. or those are 2 that we do in san diego. and i know our chapter is definitely looking for new ones so i would love if you could email them to me sweetlilbethy6@yahoo.com
and for fall 08 this year we sang to miley cyrus - see you again it was super cute and i know panhellenic and a lot of the rushees really liked it. the lyrics are:
we've got our sights set on you
and we just can't wait.
DG is a house that will never be tamed
we knew you were something special
when you walked through the door
now DG can't wait to see you again.
we've got this way of knowin, when somethin is right
join delta gamma and be our sister for life
DGs have a deep connection,
always side by side
now DG can't wait to see you again.
our sisterhood's a dream
just take a look around
we're s s sisters and we just want to shout it out
felt like we couldn't breathe
before we joined DG
an anchor by our side and sisters for eternity
the next time we hangout, will be on bid day
our hearts can't rest til then
OoOoO
We, we can't wait to see you again.
We've got this crazy feelin deep inside
that you'd love delta gamma, because its so right
we are not mind readers, but we're reading the signs
that you can't wait to see us again.
Whenever we go out, the boys all check us out
they st st stutter when they ask us what we're thinkin bout
they all love delta g's, at all fraternities
all the boys stop and stare cause we're just bein DGs
the next time we hangout we will have fall 08s
our hearts can't rest til then
OoOoO
We, we can't wait to see you again
We've got our sights set on you and we just can't wait
our sisterhood's a dream
just take a look around
we're s s sisters and we just wanna shout it out
felt like we couldn't breathe before we joined DG
an anchor by our side and sisters for eternity
the next time we hangout will be on bid day
our hearts can't rest til then
OoOoO
we, we can't wait to see you again.

this year for philanthropy we did:
we're singing do do do do whop whop (x3)
do do whop whop DG
we want you to go DG
round here it's the very best thing
all you gotta do is pledge DG
now listen to the DGs sing
we're singing do do do do whop whop (x3)
do do whop whop DG
delta gamma, delta, delta gamma
welcome remember this we hope you go DG
we do like a bunch of snapping with this one too.
our welcome song for pref was To You, DG, Aloha which was cool because we did the lei ceremony
To you, DG, aloha
Aloha from the bottom of my heart
to your bronze pink and blue
to your sisters all true
anchored in friendship
that will last all life through
to you, DG, aloha
your cream rose
the fairest flower that grows
and in autumn, winter, spring
in summer, we will sing, sing to you
DG aloha
the one I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned, or maybe I just missed it, is Do I See An Anchor in Your Eye, I think that and Will you Wear Our Anchor are my two favorites.

At SHC we do the Delta Gamma Doo Wop which starts off
Del-ta Gamma Del-ta Gamma Del-ta Gamma Del-ta Gamma (group continues this while other sing)
Some Call it love
and some may call it maaa-dddneeesss
but come along with us
we'll wipe away your saddddneeesss
Happy sisters are we
hanging out with DG
And when you are gone you'll remember our song
we're singing
Del-ta Gamma Del-ta Gamma Del-ta Gamma Del-ta Gamma...
Doo doo do do wop wop doo doo do do wop wop
doo doo do do wop wop doo do wop wop DG
We want you to go DG
'round here it's the very best thing!
All you gotta do is pledge DG
Now listen to the DG's sing
we're singing
Doo doo do do wop wop
doo doo do do wop wop
doo doo do do wop wop
doo do wop wop DG
DELTA GAMMA DELTA DELTA GAMMA GOOD NIGHT REMEMEBER THIS WE HOPE YOU JOIN DG
we're singing...and repeat til PNM's are gone and out of earshot.
We also sing another one for recruitment called Boom Boom, which is a cheer that our ATC that's a Delta Pi taught us. it goes
Boom Boom for the one that goes DG
Boom Boom For the one that I love
Boom Boom for the one that goes DG
With an anchor up above!
With a shield of white,
and an anchor bright
for every girl that PLEDGES RIGHT!
Boom Boom for the one that goes DG...repeat
The Spelling Song has two versions. Recruitment Version goes
With a D with an E With an LTA With a GAMMA
Oh Delta Gamma
That's what I am-a
I'm Delta Gam-born
and Delta Gam-bred
and When I die, I'll be Delta Gam-dead
'Cause I am a DG
And She is a DG
And we all love DG
And you should be a DG too
the regular version stays the same up til delta gam-dead then it goes rah rah for DG rah rah for DG rah rah for DG DELTA DG HEY!
Another cheer we have is for when we have a victory of some sort, like one of our sisters on the soccer team scores a goal or on bid day. it's one of our favorites. it goes
IT TAKES! IT TAKES! IT TAKES A LITTLE MORE TO BE A D E L T A, A DELTA GAMMA!

And there are a few songs HH has that I haven't seen yet. we obviously do Dream Girl for Candle Passes because our campus is too small for serenades and we do When you Go Away To College, Anchor In Your Eye, Out of My Window, Will You Wear Our Anchor, and MM My Sisters. Another Cheer is D-E-L-T-A:
D-E-L-T-A Delta D-E-L-T-A (no clap)
G-A-double M a
Gamma G-A-Double M A
We are the Delta Gamma's
We're the Broze Pink and Blue
We are the Delta Gamma's
Don't you wanna be a DG too?
Don't you wanna be a DG too?
D-E-L-T-A Delta D-E-L-T-A (Three Claps, then contiune clapping in rythmn)
G-A-Double M-A
Gamma G-A-Double M-A
We are the Delta Gamma's,
We're the Broze, Pink and Blue
We are the Delta Gamma's
Don't you wanna be a DG too?
Don't you wanna be a DG too?
The Romper Song, which is always done just for fun. It goes
Well I'm a Delta Gamma and I'm mighty proud to say
That all the other fraternaties may go along thier way
For I'm a Delta Gamma and as my life unfolds
I will stand by my fraternity and all that she upholds
And when I have a sweetheart I will want him straight and Tall
To know the Delta Gamma Song, the Delta Gamma call
and when we have a bungalowe all our dreams will all come true
for its when you marry a delta g your dreams will all come true
And when I have a daughter I will dress her like a dream
I'll send her off to college to be a DG queen
she'll never be a Phi Mu or wear a Kappa Key
She'll never be a Tri-Delta for she'll be a Delta G
And When I have a Son I will Show you something new
I'll make his little rompers out of bronze and pink and blue
and when he goes to college i know just what he'll do
he'll rush the Delta Gammas just like his daddy used to do
And when I go to heaven, meet St. Peter at the gate
and when he starts to question me, I'll tell him not to wait
For all the little angels the come from east to west
Oh every little angel wears an anchor on her chest
Mrs. St. Peter was a DG too!
Hey Look Us over is used during recruitment
Hey Look Us over, give us the eye
We're Delta Gamma and we can tell you why
We've got the friendship, we've got the fun
so give us a try and you'l know
We're always number one!
So if you go for the glamour, go for the class
go Delta Gamma like every classy lass
So if you're looking for the fraternity
that's right as right can be
here's the answer...DG!
and finally (haha omg we have way too many songs!)
She Wears DE for Debonarity
She wears an L for loving arr-rrms
She wears a T for turn, turn, turn 'em on
She wears an A for after hours, AFTER HOURS!
She wears a G for go go all the time
She wears an A for all her chaa-aarrmms
She wears an MMA for mmm, mmm, ahh!
That's a Dee Gee gii-iirrll!
sorry I have so many y'all. I never realized how many songs/cheers we have until now haha. hope it helps though!

I recently purchased a 1946 issue of the Anchora off eBay, and I'm loving reading all the old articles! One of the best parts was the inclusions of the winners of a DG songwriting contest, including this song by Dorothy Gerow Robbins, Alpha Sigma:
"She'll Be a Delta Gamma"
(Tune: She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain)
Oh, she'll be a Delta Gamma if she tries;
Oh, she'll wear a golden anchor by and by;
On other Freshman she's an edge,
And now she is a pledge;
So she'll be a Dee Gee just as you and I.
Oh, she'll be an upper classman by and by,
A state which law and custom glorify;
She will sagely cogitate,
And make rules to govern dates,
With which all mere underclassmen must comply.
Oh, she'll graduate at last as years roll by,
A fact that might with reason make her sigh;
But perhaps she's passed the candy,
And has a husband handy;
Then it won't be quite so hard to say good-bye.
An alumna she is now can't be denied,
Although she may feel still quite young and spry;
But the actives call her "missus,"
And in whispers ask who this is,
And expect at least that she act dignified.
Now in conclusion may we prophesy,
If to Timbuctoo or farther she should hie,
Our love will always find her;
Ties of friendship still will bind her,
And she'll be a Delta Gamma till she dies.
Soooo cute!

also, for our last Fall Recruitment, a few of our sisters redid the words to Nellys...Ride With Me...i thought it was the cutest song ever...so I figured i would write the words on here for you all to see them! here they are:
Where they at? (8 times)
If you wanna go and take a ride wit me
To learn more 'bout the sisters of Delta Gee
And why that we feel this way?
(Hey, must be Dee Gee)
If you wanna join a sorority
A feel of sisterhood like the girls of Delta Gee
And why that we feel this way?
(Hey, must be Dee Gee)
In the new school, new town, feel so right
Lookin, tryin ta spot someone real nice
Lookin for a little place where I know I'll feel at home
(feel at home)
We can be hangin' out (hangin' out) on a Friday night
or helpin the blind with Service for Sight
But as long as you got your friends girl, you know its on
(you know its on)
I see someone comin towards me who's so much more
Honest and real true
And sayin' she's my sister is somethin that I love to do
I'm always there for you
And that ain't nothin new
Dee Gee is friendship, loyalty, and sisters too
I like the way you're always there
And I like those stylish letters you wear
I like the way you always seem to care
And i can see you smilin way over there
(repeat chorus)

OBSESSED! LOVE IT

One we used to sing that never thrilled me was
Well, well, well
Hanna, my Delta Gamma,
She's got a figure like a baby grand piana
She's not so nifty, she weighs two fifity,
But fat girls (are loved by the best of men) they say
Oh well, well Hanna, my Delta Gamma,
I put my arms around as far as they will go, go, go,
Oh, I don't care for pretty faces,
All I want is Hanna's graces,
Hanna my Delta Gamma!
Given that I've fought to keep my weight down since I was 13 years old, and that several sisters in our chapter were overweight, I have absolutely NO idea why we sang this during Rush! Granted, I went through and was initiated about 100 year ago, but still...

Well, darlin', I was inititated about 125 years ago. We NEVER sang that song during rush, just after dinner (remember formal sit-down dinners?) when it was just us and no visitors.
Here's the last verse (2nd 'h' added to the name just 'cuz I like balance and have a slight case of OCD):
Well, well, well Hannah, my Delta Gamma,
See how she's losin' all that weight around her fanna.
She's lookin' nifty, she's lost one fifty
And now they say it's hard to keep the boys away.
Well, well, well Hannah, my Delta Gamma,
I put my arms around as far as they will go, go, go,
Oh, I don't care for pretty faces,
All I want is Hanna's graces,
Hannah! My Delta Gamma!
Can't wait to sing some of these great old songs again at our installation (at least...I hope we old alumnae can do some singing!)

I always hated it too, but not because I was overweight (though I always have been 20% or more over top-of-the-range). I DESPISED the "fat girls now and then are cherished by the best of men."
I really didn't as an undergraduate, and don't now, think being "cherished" by "the best" is a goal I wanted to strive for.
But then, I loved the Romper Song and still find it in my head from time to time!

@AnchorAlumna -- you wrote (remember formal sit-down dinners?) ---
Actually, we didn't have them! I went to a school which didn't have any housing, let alone Greek housing, on campus. All the sororities and fraternities had rooms in the student life building. CLosest thing we had to formal sit-downs would be lunch at the nearby subs shop! lol. Now the school has dorms and a building dedicated to Greeks. My, how the times have changed.
